interesting articl on CBS about recruiting

  • I found this interesting. 247Sports is mentioned and compared to all the other sites to see if there is more of a consensus among sites this year than in years past... worth a read. This is how I rank the sites as I have had experience with them:

    1a. 247Sports
    1b. Rivals
    3. Scout
    4. MaxPreps
    5. ESPN

I only really pay attention to 247 and Rivals with an occasional dip into scout. i rarely, if ever, even look at rankings from ESPN or CBS (MaxPreps) as I find them majorly influenced by which regions they make the most money off of.

2013 becoming the class of consensus - CBSSports

Class rankings are a bedrock of the recruiting industry and provoke the most debate from analysts, fans and even the coaches (who claim they don't look at them but really do check them out). While there is often a varied opinion about recruits -- few are -- it seems like there's more consensus about the class of 2013 then past years.

  • by the way, I ranked them, but this article has nothing to do with ranking the best recruiting sites. just looking at the top prospects according to each site from 2010 to 2013.

  • Thanks for posting, Klein.

Having never had a sub anywhere but 247, I'm extremely biased towards this network. Not even because of rankings, but because of the staff and the site. I love this site's player profiles. To me, they're way ahead of the rest.

As for the actual article -- It'll be interesting to see where the sites are in terms of top prospects by the end of the cycle. I suspect most will stay the same, but there could be a little change with camps and senior seasons.
