Dierdorf as been horrible for a long time -- the worst was when he was paired with Frank McGuire. Dierdorf's dumb and overly obvious statements and McGuire's stupid, awkward giggling made for an unwatchable football game on Sunday night on ESPN.

Huh??? Not the games I've watched. He's a total Ravens homer. He mostly calls the Ravens games.

I think you mean Paul McGuire. Frank McGuire was a South Carolina BB coach. In fairness to Dierdoff being paired with Paul McGuire makes anyone look stupid.

You know, I sort of have an acid test for game announcers (not that I actually listen that much). If they are a kiss ass and the official is alway right in throwing the flag (or not throwing it) I personally have no use for them whatsoever. They're not doing anything that justifies them being in the both. If they look at it objectively and discuss the play/penalty intelligently, they have a chance.
