What's you're score Thursday?

  • I say 34-9 Big Red
    1 score for ST
    1 score for the blackshirts
The D shows up big again and T and the stable take care of the rest

I will be floored if we get to 30 this week. I thought we would last week, but not this week. I don't see us losing this game unless we come out with a first half filled with blunders like the NW game. MSU's offense is so freaking bad, there should be no reason they get to double digits on us, so I like our chances of winning this and all but locking up our division.

  • I like your optimism Ty, but that's even a little to rose colored for me. Don't get me wrong, I think we can and will win this game but it will be close. MSU hasn't allowed a team to score over 27 points this season and they have only allowed 3 teams to score 20 or more. I think we win, especially if we get out to an early lead like last year... but I think we only get in the 20s.

We scored 24 at home last year, and that offense isn't as good as this year's but MSU's defense is just as good, if not better, and the game is on the road this season. So, my score looks like this:

NE - 22 (I think we kick a lot of field goals)
    MSU - 13

  • Nebraska -- 20
    Michigan State -- 10

And that's because Michigan State's 2 safeties are still banged up, and their corner (Adams) got banged up a little against Wisconsin.

If the safeties and Adams are 100% healthy and play, that score will come down.

I expect a close game. Michigan State's defense is damn good and we're prone to too many mistakes.

Keys to the game, as always, are 0 turnovers, no stupid penalties, no special teams mistakes. Sadly, we rarely do all 3 of those things...

If you take away 14pts from my score (st/D), my score is 20-9. Their return coverage isn't good and qb play is not good so I'm gambling on the extra 14pts.

  • MSU is 0-5 at home this year against the spread...

Just a tidbit when considering your score predictions.

The safeties are healthy; not sure where you got that info from.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Defensive score/big special teams plays that set the O up for good field position is about all I can think of. MSU has scored 2 TDs in regulation just once this Big 10 season (vs. IU).

    The D is legit though.

This score includes a defensive score from them. Their offense sucks.

    Even better.

  • I'm going out on a limb and predict that we'll pitch a shutout. We'll get a single touchdown, perhaps by ST or D, and 3 field goals, and take this one 16-0.

The two starting safeties, SS Isaiah Lewis and FS Kurtis Drummond are healthy.

    Jones and Williamson are backups.

  • I like the optimism in this thread and I hate to do it but have a bad feeling 17-13 bad guys. I pray it is just my pessimism coming through but worried whether the huskers are focused.

    AmesHusker

  • 24-3. A repeat from last year. They couldn't score more than 3 with cousins, how in the hell will they without him? I'm banking on atleast 14 from the ST and D units. I think we will move the ball fairly well but fumbles and penalties on their side of the field will cost us some points.

While I can certainly see your point of view, I think this team is more focused now than they have been in Bo's tenure. After the OSU debacle and then sputtering and almost completely embarrassing themselves at NW, I think they realize how easily their season could go in the opposite direction they want. They REALLY want to win this conference and know that they have to be 100% focused EVERY week in order to do so.

    Husker Z

  • 19-10.

we have 1 TD with 4 field goals. they have 1 TD late in the game and 1 field goal early because of an offensive blunder. getting specific with this prediction lol

Getting a bad feeling about this game. This game will prove if this is really the month of the Cornhusker, but i'm worried I have become over excited about this team over the last week.

I think this negativity is actually realism. Bo's teams have not handled success well. We all remember the debacle against Northwestern last season after taking control of the division as well as the debacle at Michigan. The way to tell if this team is truly different is if they come out and are ready to play from minute one in this game. Makes me uneasy as well, but if we win this game I honestly don't see us dropping any of the final three games (though PSU could be a trap type game).

If it makes you feel any better, MSU doesn't know the meaning of a hot start.
