What are your thoughts heading into spring?

  • Spring ball starts earlier and VIP Room did a nice job touching on what could be happening this spring for the Huskers?

What concerns, issues do you have for the spring?

Lots and lots of skill talent on the roster.

Offensively, you have a boatload of it proven. Defensively, you have a boatload of it unproven.

The defensive line is a huge question mark.

You also always here the saying that you build the defense from the inside out. Meaning it starts in the middle....DT, MIKE, S. Of those 5 positions, we lost all 5 from last year. That's scary to think about.

You hear the saying it all starts up front. We lost 4 of our top 6 (including our best 4) from an already average unit last year. That's scary to think about.

You return a 3-year starting QB, 1000-yard rusher, top 4 wide receivers and 4 of your 5 starters on the OL from the best offense in your conference. That's somewhat of a relief and something to be excited about.

  • Can't wait to watch the linebackers fly around... as well as TA at the QB roll after hearing glowing reviews this past season. Offensive line depth is something to watch. Count me as watching Paul Thurston early and often to see how he does.

The biggest concern is DL to me. We might have some good players but they are all very young. I will also be interested in CJ at safety and watching both Jonathan Rose and Mo Seisay at CB to see how they progressed. I wish we had one more year with Mo.

  • Offense should be dynamic. Defense has miles and miles to go. Unless Spring goes tremendously well, I expect the defense to cost us at least one game. More than likely, I think it's two.

In terms of practice, DL reps and LB rotation is probably the most interesting to me. Safety should be a concern, but not much of a point if interest: We only have a few options there.

I'm looking forward to seeing what our JUCO OL do, too.

  • I'm worried about our entire defense lol. I would start with Dline being my biggest worry, next would be safety. Tons of talent, but some young guys really need to step up.

I will add, our offense should be able to win us games this year. If they don't I will be very disappointed. That unit should be very very good.

THe middle on the defense is scary in how little experience we have and lack of depth on the DL or at least depth with any experience. THis is why when I read what makes for a successful season in the other thread I can't help but feel everyone will be left disappointed. I am trying to stay positive but the DL has me scared about next season. If we could ever get depth and experience on D to match up when we have it on O we could realistically expect a BCS game. To this point in Bo's tenure we haven't seen it and unfortunately I am not getting my hopes up too much for this year.

  • My biggest concern without a doubt is the front 7 on defense. These young guys must come step up and get it done.

    Huskers Forever

  • Offense: I mostly wondering who looks poised to make a jump for the Fall
    Offensive line development
    Tommy Armstrong
    Westerkamp

Defense: The concerns are obvious. Besides Ciante Evans, everything should be up for grabs.

  • Nothing. It is spring ball, which rarely means anything for the fall.

Defense now, defense tomorrow, defense forever!! Sounds familiar for some old folks but 'am sure Husker Nation catches my drift! Peace!!

  • I'm not thinking anything about spring ball. Or fall ball for that matter. I can't have any expectations for this team anymore. Time to prove something.
