What are you hoping to see New Year's Day?

  • Obviously a victory, but what other things would you like to see? Rex touchdown to cap career? More Jamal Turner? Unleash the hounds on defense?

    Anything standing out?

  • I'd like to see the defense show up and play lights out.

    Huskers Forever

  • I want to see us be competitive. On offense and defense, I want to see adjustments to things that they are doing and us actually take advantage of something they don't/aren't doing well.

The main thing is being competitive. Idk if I can take another embarrassment on national tv.

  • The first part of the game because I'll know I'll be passed out from new years eve.....thank god for dvr

  • Solid tackling and ball security. Those 2 things would help keep the game close because I am afraid we don't have the horses in the lines to win this one.

^This. Wouldn't it be nice to see our defense in position, tackling solidly, and our offense imposing their will? If we can do that, we'll be competitive.

But what I want to see the most is poise. A belief in yourself...shrugging off the refs and the occasional miscue, and taking care of business. Acting like you belong there. In short, I want to see a performance like the one we gave against Arizona a couple of years ago, and not a repeat of our South Carolina showing last year.

Am I asking for too much?

In reality this is going to be a tough game for us to win. I hope the staff is emphasizing the transition to 2013. Like everyone else I would like to see us win, but I hope we are using the time we have now to bring along the staff's vision for 2013 and the guys that they see key to the success of the team next season.

I love Rex and if he has the hot hand early I am all for playing him, but he won't be with us next season. If GA is able to stuff Rex early, I would like to see a lot of Braylon. He is the guy that I could see being a major playmaker on O next season. He is a "quick strike" player with the kind of speed and moves to break one all the way at any time. With Taylor and him in the game at the same time we have two "quick strike" ground threats. That will be tough to defend. Although I think our OL will be improved next season, I do not see us grinding it out with Abdullah and Cross next season in the games that matter. I think Beck could use his imagination to get the horizontal option game going along with the zone read with Braylon and Martinez. I would like to see what Beck can do with these two playing a significant portion of the game together.

I would also like to see Jamal Turner the focus of our passing game rather than Kenny Bell. I think Jamal has come a long ways and knows he needs to catch the ball and run north-south rather than try to juke every defender on the field. He is stronger than Kenny, just as fast and maybe a little quicker. He also fits in with the "quick strike" capability in that he can take a short pass and take it all the way to the house.

I would like to see more designed runs for Taylor. Clearly the long run he made against Wisconsin was on a busted play, but I would like to see a play or two designed to look like a pass play but, in fact, be a designed run play. Let TM drop back a little bit more than usual as if to pass, perhaps fake a screen to one side and run to the other. Have Enunwa, Cotton and Bell/Turner set up some blocks and let him improvise in the open field. It's a high risk, high reward play but, again, aligned with the "quick strike" offense I think we have the personnel to run next season.

On D I have no ideas for this game. We are pretty much screwed by talent limitations. The only bright spot is that our DB's are good in pass coverage, but, I am not sure that GA will even feel the need to pass the ball. I hope they do because it is their mentality to pass the ball, but they will be playing into our only strength on D.

    BHR, pretty much nails it.

The will to win regardless. Regardless of Georgia's physical size, reputation and playmakers. Regardless of a fumble, bad ref call or miscue. Regardless that no one believes that they can win. Regardless if any position or player is over matched. Regardless if Georgia gets up by two scores.

That's what I want to see. A mental toughness, the same mental toughness that they responded to when Bo said they must win out after the OSU loss.

this. Also, would like to see no turnovers while we force a few.

  • I want to see us get our skill players the ball in space. WR screens to Turner/Bell. I'd like to see the wishbone since it disappeared again it seemed this year. I'd like to see proof that we have more than 1 DT on the roster because as of right now im not totally convinced.

I'd like to see an effort/willingness to play talent/speed over "veteran players that know the defense" ...

  • I'd like to see us compete physically with a legit Top 10 (if not Top 3 to 5) team. Not look completely outmatched on both lines and be able to run the football with some kind of effectiveness between the tackles.

I want to see mental toughness that tells me this team truly believes they can compete and beat these guys. That part has been lacking severely when we have gotten punched in the mouth against top end teams for the last decade.
