Walker decommit article

  • SF or lando, how credible is this rag?

This post was edited by Big Red Phoenix on 1/26/2013 at 12:09 PM

Dominic Walker drops Nebraska and commits to Auburn; joining teammate Tony Stevens - OrlandoSentinel.com

He didn't want to do it out of fear of what people might think of him, but after finally overcoming that notion, Dominic Walker decommitted Nebraska to pledge his newfound allegiance to Auburn on Friday.

  • It is as credible as any other newspaper. But I told everyone the kid was a flake from the beginning. I had access to his coaches.
They probably reported what walker told them, who knows if walker made it up or not.

Yeah it very much sounds like a retaliation to a pulled offer to me.

  • Doesn't bother me a bit. Haven't liked this kid all along anyway. He wouldn't have lasted anyway. So long.

  • Im not going to get too worked up over this, not yet anyway. I think he's going to be a fine player, so it sucks to lose him in that regard, but he was never a make or break player for how this class is going to turn-out overall.

As far as Bo or Walker's hard feelings, I have a couple thoughts...

    1. If we did pull his offer (which Im not completely buying), maybe it has less to do with Bo's stance of "if your committed you can't take other visits" and has more to do with Bo not feeling comfortable allowing another recruit on the team only to see them flake out in 18-24 months like Peat and Moore?

    2. We will learn more about Bo's bad attitude (or not) whenever we find out what McWilson decides to do, and how/if he talks about Bo after he makes his decision.

No, the INS isn't chasing him; Taylor Martinez just runs like that. . . .

You don't have clue what you're talking about. You are not paying attention to people that know the facts. Same old B.S. people that know nothing spouting nonsense, but are quick to denigrate our coach over a seriously disturbed 17 year old. And we did pull his offer. Fact.

  • I wouldnt doubt the coaches sId that to him. He committed to Nebraska - then reaffirmed that commitment then flaked out. I don't think it was about Auburn but about him not being true to his word. Auburn is in better hands with Malzahn and it will be a WR friendly offense. I just think the coaches feel lied to repeatedly.

    Yep.

Guy wrote a story filled with factual information. The only troubling piece of the column were the quoted comments from Walker. The journalist can only report the words of the interviewee for the piece.

DIdn't see anything wrong with it. The real question is whether you believe what Walker said.

I believe Pelini did wish him good luck.

As to whether he said "you're gonna need it", is definitely up for debate. Even if he did, we all say things in the heat of the moment that we don't really mean and are venting out some frustration.

If Bo said that or not, doesn't really bother me to be honest. It is the first time I have heard or read such a thing coming from Bo with any recruit. If a pattern like this develops in the future, then I might be worried. Till then, I'm not going to believe a 17/18 year old kid who has now decommitted from 2 schools during his recruitment process.

If the "you're gonna need it" is the worst we ever hear from our coaches negatively recruiting, then I feel extremely comfortable that our staff is positively recruiting moreso than 99% of the schools and coaches that are out there right now.

I don't give two SS whether he said it or not I just don't like the image it creates. I hope at some point it is addressed.

  • If Bo and Fish said that then I actually respect them more.

This kid is a piece of work. And that's as nice as I can be about it....

Our 'image' is one of the best in the country.

Who calls out Nebraska as cheaters or as a school that bends the rules? We are well respected as a school and football program that does things the right way. Especially amongst high school coaches from throughout the country.

Would you rather we have the image of schools like Alabama or Auburn in which they have been put on probation a number of times and their recruiting practices come into question by nearly everybody in the country? Or how about Ohio State? Or Penn State? Or USC? Or Texas? Or Oklahoma? Or Florida, or Florida State, or LSU, or Oregon, or any a number of big name schools across the country.

There is maybe, a huge maybe, that .1% of the 1% of people that actually watch recruiting all that much that take this as being remotely serious. You are making a mountain out of a pimple on the molehill of a mountain.

This story didn't even last 10 minutes before it was gone and forgotten amongst even the deepest of recruitniks.
