UFO's Week #10

  • UnKnown’s Forgettable Opinions
    Week #10

THIS TEAM MAKES ME WANT TO CRY…over their penchant to self destruct, but then I also get a little misty thinking about how they have come back in the clutch several times this year. Shows some character.

HAVE WE TURNED THE CORNER YET?…No, but we’re gaining a little speed heading into the turn. Keep it up, and we’ll be able to take that 45mph turn at about 65. As long as TM’s girlfriend isn’t driving the bus, we should OK.

IF YOU’RE A BEAT WRITER FOR THE HUSKERS…I trust you have learned to wait until 0:00 is showing on the clock to start penning your story. Try to report on the Huskers before the game is over and you’ll piss off Paul Harvey and miss “the rest of the story“. I’m guessing a few guys had to do a re-write yesterday.

ARE THE FOOTBALL GODS SMILING ON US? Sure seems like it. When we need a break to stay in the game, things have been going our way. Don’t ask me to feel bad about it. We’ve had a number of games the last 5 years where the breaks went the other way at crunch time. Maybe the scales of justice are tipping our direction.

MiCHIGAN STATE’S DEFENSE…seemed pretty concerned about defending the pass, and for most the game they did so very well. At the same time, they apparently forgot how dangerous a runner Taylor Martinez is, practically ignoring him on 3 long runs, two of them for TD’s. Which goes to show that it’s pretty hard to defend everything this offense can do for 60 minutes.

“I BETTER HAVE A COCKTAIL BEFORE I DO THIS”… or, what the sideline reporter is thinking before trying to interview Bo on his way to the locker room at half time.

A.A….as in Ameer Abdullah, as in potential All American running back next year. The more he plays, the better he gets. Great combination of physical skills, vision and running instincts.

JAMAL TURNER…the future is bright for you, young man. Actually, the future of our entire receiving corps is beyond anything we could have imagined, even in the WCO days.

NEPOTISM‘S A BITCH DEPT…. Monte Kiffin’s probably having dreams of Tampa Bay these days. Good thing. That way he doesn’t have to think about his kid giving him the pink slip for that swiss cheese defense they’re running at USC these days. I guess it’s hard to round a good defense together when you only have eight 1st day NFL draft choices to work with. How bad were they?…

KENJON BARNER RAN FOR 321 YARDS…which is pretty bad itself. Worse yet, the stat nerds say that 280+ of those yards came BEFORE contact. USC couldn’t defend this guy in a game of two hand touch, let alone real football. Makes you wonder how bad that defense is. Then again, maybe Oregon is that good. On offense, at least. BTW…

KANSAS STATE IS A GOOD STORY…but they are not the 2nd best team in the country. That would be the Ducks, and with any luck, they get to the BCS CG. I sure hope they do. If we make it to the Rose Bowl, I do not want to see Oregon in their 14th different uniform this year on the other sideline.

I CAN SEE IT NOW… Nebraska v. the Indiana Hoosier Daddy’s? in the Big Ten CG. Hey, the game is in Indy, why not get some local flavor involved if the best team in the conference can’t be there? Nebraska v. Wisconsin II probably won’t move the meter much. Wiscy v. Indiana is “can’t miss” tv next week.

"ARE THE FOOTBALL GODS SMILING ON US?"

Agree, agree, agree. Lady Luck may be shining on us and I'm soooooo ready for just that.

    "MICHIGAN STATE’S DEFENSE…" .... and Taylor's running.

Wasn't a least one of those runs a genuine scramble? Seems to me he ran to the daylight. Perfect. And exactly what he didn't do vs OSU.

His passing abilities have set up excellent scrambling opportunities that he hasn't elected very often. Maybe that's changing. If so, good!

" Indiana Hoosier Daddy" WE ARE!!! lol

  • TMart runs the read option MUCH better than Braxton does, and Denard isn't even close to either of them. Braxton killed us with it and TMart was 2X better at it. That hesitation he gives after fake handoff sucks in our defense who always over pursuits. Scary.

Nebraska also blocked that play a little differently than it had earlier in the season. The coaches hinted that they saw something in the QB keeper game that they could exploit.
