They are saying that Ball is going to run all over us and Borland is going to shut us down by himself.

  • Who gives a crap who they picked? They try to look smart by picking the non-favorite. It's their job to create buzz.

  • Corso Picked Wisconsin earlier too... Then the game-day panel began to talk about how NU needs to take advantage this year, because tOSU has already won next season's title.

No, the INS isn't chasing him; Taylor Martinez just runs like that. . . .

Me either... I listen to some of the pod-casts like PTI, but I can't stand that channel. Its unbearable.

Well they did kick our arse this year. Have roughly the same amount of starters returning as we do. Have a much more proven coach with 2 National Title rings on his fingers, and have recruited better than we have over the past 5 years.

All this after going undefeated this year. Yea, I can see why they might be considered the prohibitive favorites going into next year.

  • I dont think an upset pick is that unreasonable.

I do think we win though.

  • ESPN is good at awarding titles to teams before they are required to earn them. Ask Lane Kiffen how that works out.

They picked USC as their pre-season #1 team. After a couple of losses and some embarrassing defensive efforts they called a spade a spade.

Everybody makes mistakes in pre-season polls. It is the nature of what will happen when doing pre-season projections in sports. But for some reason, ESPN is looked at more harshly than anybody else. Have you ever seen how bad Athlon or Sporting News or Lindy's are in their pre-season predictions? They are the worst in the business.

The worst thing that ESPN does is pushing the SEC and the Heisman throughout the season. They have a significant impact on the voting in both of those items and with their ties to the SEC, there is some undoubtable bias going on. Even then, the SEC has earned that bias the last decade.

This fool McShay picked NU on yesterday's college football podcast. I hope the boys leave no doubt tonight.

  • Their SEC bias is annoying, but it's not just the CFB part that I can't stand. How guys like Bayless, Kornheiser, Paige, Broussard, Stephan A Smith, etc. still have a job just floors me. What, because they create "controversy" and get people talking? Please. It's a turnoff.

Agreed. Though I don't mind Kornheiser (like Wilbon better though - PTI is the best show on ESPN imo). Stephen A Smith is at least entertaining.

    Agree.

But I don't watch that garbage. Bayless and Stephen A Smith are beyond a joke. Kornheiser is awful. That whole Around the Horn show is the worst sports show on TV.

There are quite a few quality guys at ESPN, and their college football crew is pretty good outside of May, Holtz, and Davis. It is just the SEC slant is becoming unbearable. WIth that said, someone needs to beat them in the BCS Championship game to shut it up. Until that day happens, we are going to keep hearing about it.

They need to fill those business hours with something.

I don't either, we have no interior line presence. Hopefully Wisconsin is dumb enough to attack the ends and backers.

    True.

But that doesn't mean you have to fill the time with a bunch of screaming raving lunatics that make ridiculous statements just to get a rise out of people.

Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless are professional trolls.

I have no problem with them saying tOSU is the favorite, but they're already handing them the title. Which is non-sense... tOSU beat Indiana by 3. Wisconsin in OT. Michigan by 4. Purdue by 7. MSU by 1. and Cal by 7.... They aren't light years ahead of anybody right now, they just happened kicked our butts, and were able to win the rest.

They went undefeated for only the second time in 60 years this season.... What are the odds they go undefeated twice in a row? Not impossible, but its not likely, and far from a guarantee.

Also, Bo has a good history against teams that beat him the previous year, even the blow-outs. OU and Mizzou from 2008 to 2009. Washington from the 2010-bowl to 2011. Wiscy, Michigan, NW from 2011-2012.... Shoulda coulda woulda against Virginia Tech in 09 too.... Obviously that history doesn't really mean that much going into a contest, but I think it worth keeping in mind.

  • I watched Gameday for the first time in its entirety today. In two hours of TV they might have spent 20 minutes NOT talking about the SEC in one fashion or another. That will probably be the last time I try to watch ESPN if a game isn't currently being played. It is frustrating listening to them belittle every football team not located south of the Mason-Dixon line.
