Time For Some Minnesota Talk

  • Head Coach Jerry Kill has done a fanstastic job at Minnesota the last two years.

Obviously overwhelmed by Bo, Urban, and Bill O'Brien's work this year in the conference race towards Coach of The Year, there is nothing to sneeze at in the work Kill has done at Minnesota.

First off, they iced their first bowl game bid just last week in a 17-3 win on the road at Illinois. Their first conference road win since.... well..., since something a long time ago.

Coming off of 4 emotional, physical, and draining games, our beloved Huskers
need to put this team away early and not give them any hope.

If there is anything this Gopher squad has now it is hope. Their goal to start the season was to make it to a bowl game. Already achieved. We don't need for them to put more gravy on top of that.

Time to close out the Legends division with the Seniors last game in Memorial Stadium and our team keeping on keeping on.

They don't have anyone that has played Center in a real game before to start against the Huskers; looks like their Left Guard will fill that role. Especially in Minnesota's motion offense their passing plays, zone-read runs, depend upon precise timing, which can be easily disrupted with an untested Center. Add a frosh QB and a depleted offensive unit, the Blackshirts should be able to dominate.

There is just no way (on paper) that this game should be tough. They are WAAAY overmatched at every single position on the field. I guess I don't know about their punter....

  • One thing about Minnesota... they will fight until the end. Coach Kill has this team playing sound assignment football. That being said, we need to jump out early on this one. We should win this game by 20+ points given the injuries Minny has to their offense, and especially offensive line. Baker should have a field day up front.

Their defense is surprisingly good, though they have not played an offense like ours... unless you count Michigan who, without D-Rob, in Minnesota put up 34 on them. We need to jump on them early and often. Force a few turnovers and get the rest of our seniors and back ups in by the 4th quarter.

  • With there offensive injuries, and Bo and the boys wanting to get to that CCG I don't see Minny scoring much over a FG. It could be 1 of those games where our 2nd team will be asked to preserve the shut out late. TM and the offense are going to get some things done this weekend

  • There is a reason I picked Saturday to work so I can Friday off.

Kill has done a great job at Minny no question about it. With all the talk of how down the Big 10 is, a story like this can slip through. There will be a time when this game is tough, but it wont be this year. With all the injuries they have, this should be a blow out early.

Minnesota is the new Iowa State... for me anyways. Its the school I love to see upset folks in the conference (except us [knockonwood])

Kill is done a great job and I hope he can right the ship up there. the B1G needs every single school to dominate at minimum their out of conference schedules and keep it respectable in conference.

  • I'm with Josh on his ISU comparison. I like Coach Kill and I like MarQueis Gray (admirable young man, see the article about him). The Gophers should continue to improve. Who knows, we might see Iowa perennially replace them at the bottom of the Legends.

MarQueis Gray: a true team player

Add me to the list of people who admire MarQueis Gray. His selflessness and dedication is admirable. I think a lot of other players, especia

  • I really like Jerry Kill but his team is badly over matched here. And we need to play like that. Win early and win big. The thing is, we can't count on that, can we? Dang it!

Just win, baby! Win any way possible and I'll be happy. Two more games then on to Indy.

Your right of course but this is the type of game where someone on the huskers side could end up injured and out for the season, etc. The huskers need to take Minnesota seriously and come out the first quarter and pile on the hurt and they shouldn't slow down until that final whistle blows to end the game. We need a game where we can put together 4 good quarters of football and not have to wait until the second half to pull the game out.

The husker coaches need to put the pedal to the metal and score quickly and often. Our 2nd stringers need to be able to play most of the second half so we can rest the starters. We can't let this game get away from us and end of losing.

As I stated earlier this game could end up badly for the huskers if we don't come out fighting from the first second of the first quarter. This game is ideal for a Minnesota upset so we need to focus and kick some gopher butt.

Yep. Got the same colors and a solid head coach as well.

They've been taking baby steps the last couple years and could be ready to make some huge strides in the next couple years.

They might be pretty damn tough in the coming seasons. Certainly not the conference whipping boy anymore.
