  • I think Kellogg would do fine. Beck's offense may be currently predicated on having a mobile QB, but that's just as much because of who he has as it is what he wants. To cater it to Kellogg isn't as big a change as many are assuming.

I'm actually confident Ron could make this offense move pretty well as long as our line (as SF has alluded) can protect him. He can make all the throws, has a lot of weapons, and is smart enough to just get rid of it if it's not there. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing him get a chance.

  • I am fine with RKIII being the #2 guy, but admit I am a bit surprised by it. I haven't seen too much of him though, so this is judged mostly off others observations and analysis.

As far as being concerned about his mobility and the O-line providing time, I am not too worried. If he really knows his stuff, as the coaches keep expressing, then he should be able check his protection or play call at the line. I think it is safe to assume that defenses will still key our run game in lieu of Rex alone, so Beck should be able to supply play calling to negate any running deficiencies RKIII might have, I hope. Immobile QBs (with smarts) can buy time or create it with checks and reads, ala Tom Brady, not that I am comparing the two, but because Belichick stopped by I will use the example. It will come down to Beck's game planning, hopefully if we do ever have to get #2 in there, they will figure out a way to get it to our outside weapons and take advantage of having two quality TEs, stable of RBs etc.

That said, I would love to see TA, I like swagger and it seems he has got it. Just my thoughts. Either way, GBR!

Can anyone tell me what RKIII looks like running the option?

    Ya better NebrASKa somebody!!!

hey solid first post Kane... love the input and agree completely. Welcome and I look forward to seeing you post more here! As for RKIII running the option... Let's just say, they wouldn't run it much with him in the game... if you catch my drift.welcome

Welcome aboard, KD. Thanks for posting. Hope to see more of your contributions to the board. UV for you.

I doubt we'll see Ron @ #2 for the entire season.

He actually runs it very well... and never loses yards. He isn't fast or quick, but he knows when to pitch it and knows how to suck in the defense.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome Zonie87, Husker SF and Klein12, glad to have a place to talk Husker football! Have read and appreciated a number of posts from you guys, and other Husker faithful at Huskers Illustrated, I look forward to it everyday (probably too often...).

Thanks for the insight joshwfo, that's reassuring.

Upvotes to you all for the Husker hospitality, you just can't beat it. (kinda hope this is the only time I sound like Bobby Bowden)

Welcome Kane Diggity! UpVote to you good sir. Nice opening posts. It's easy to become addicted to this board. The great posters on here typically ensure that good vibes abound. We discuss, but not attack. There are no cliques and, as I'm sure you have noticed, the staff delivers the best content.

RKIII has been an excellent student of our offense, and as he's pointed out, it isn't too different from what he ran in high school. I have faith in his abilities (and faith that our coaches will call plays that best suit him).

  • With our WR talent
    With our RB's
    With his decision making
    With his throwing ability
    With his game intelligence

RKIII SHOULD BE THE STARTER. NOT THE #2.

In all qb categories he is better than TM save straight line running
