"Source" says Pelini willing to jump

  • Not sure how much I believe this, but apparently some people think Pelini desires a "bigger" job. I think some people outside of the 402 dont realize how invested he is in this program and players. What do you guys think...This is via ESPN's website.

"This past summer I talked to a veteran Big Ten observer who believes that Pelini desires a bigger job and would strongly consider a return to the SEC given the right situation," Miller wrote. "While it is unknown if either party would be interested if there is an opening on The Plains, (Auburn president Jay) Gogue should strongly consider reaching out to Pelini..."

If ESPN is the source, I discount it to a great degree.

  • Bo isn't going anywhere. Going from Nebraska to a possible middle of the pack SEC team? Not going to happen. I think people vastly overestimate the attraction of the SEC.

I agree. LSU, Bama, Florida are one thing. But Auburn is thinking very highly of themselves after the year of the Cam. If he did leave I really do not think he would go there. That place is a mess, and there is no room for mistakes in that conference. I feel like Bo is very settled in here and he is comfortable. He doesnt strike me as a guy who just hops around to do it. He has a legacy building here.

  • "a veteran Big Ten observer"

What the crap is that? Ha, Bo has been in the B1G 2 years and a "veteran B1G observer" thinks he desires a bigger job. Or is this just Dantonio hoping he leaves because he hates the fact that MSU still can't beat Nebraska? ESPN's hack job reporting at its best. Auburn and Arkansas aren't bigger or better jobs. Who wants to walk into those nasty situations?

Also Pelini has set this team up for a huge run in 2013. He strikes me as a guy that sets out to accomplish a goal and doesn't leave it unfinished. I don't see him leaving until he wins a championship here, and even then, it's improbable.

  • What exactly is a "veteran big ten observer"...?

A random Iowa fan that has some hopeful thinking lol

  • Anyone who thinks Auburn or Arkansas (aka 'Neckville 1 and 'Neckville 2) are better jobs than Nebraska needs to get slapped back to reality.

  • I am sure Bo would consider an SEC job if it was the right situation. The right situation is not Ark or Auburn. Only jobs I would be worried losing Bo to would be LSU, Florida, and Bama and that is about it. Maybe S. Carolina.

Ark is a middle or lower pack SEC team and Auburn doesn't even get more fan support in their own state. Those two schools don't worry me at all about taking Bo.

  • Bo may have coached in the SEC, but I think everyone forgets where he is from...Ohio....he is a Big 10 guy and I think he enjoys coaching in the Big 10.

Unless you are mentioned in a Alabama/Florida/Georgia opening (heck, even Tennessee), then you stay at your job with a major school like NU.

I would say Nebraska is a better job than Tennessee

I think ESPN likes to rile up Bo Pelini and Nebraska fans in general. I'm not worried about Bo leaving. This job is just about to starting getting good. Why would he leave now, just when the rebuilding is ending?

  • ESPN and their "insider" information are the reason I ended up here at 247. Pretty sure ESPN keeps this story in the archives to pull out about this time every year for every program that is doing petty well. Their job is to create controversy so they have have job security.

Bo taking that job would be like getting dumped by a girl because she wants to date the guy who eats his own boogers. It would kinda suck in a weird way where you wouldn't want her back but you would just feel dirty about your own ability to pick women. pukeface

The only thing better about those jobs is you don't need the same big ass moving truck as Nebraska because they don't have much hardware. I can just see Bo being exposed to the stupid pig sound thing arky does.

In other random thoughts.... super sorry to the novice college football fans and entertainment media of the world. We ,as fans, need to do a better job of being a top 5 football program in the history of censored college football. We'll try to win some more back to back MNC's, conference titles, Heismans, and general awesome things the other 100 some programs have never sniffed.

    NU Big Lou

  • It's all about the money. But both of those schools would be foolish to offer the type of bucks it would take to lure Bo away.
