Barry Alvarez is the alpha and the omega of this entire discussion.
Alvarez has used his affiliation with Nebraska and Bob Devaney as a template for his entire career, both as a coach and AD.
In hiring Eichorst, we are putting a guy in the AD position that has been mentored by Alvarez in all the things we would hold dear at Nebraska.
You can analayze the hire inside out, updise down and backwards, but Eichorn's tenure under Alvarez says more than any message board critique you or I can come up with.
