I don't hate the hire, I just hope Eichorst is a good fit and he doesn't try to make the program something it isn't. I don't have any examples in particular, but it just gets back to "fit". A Nebraska guy does not guarantee that, see Pederson, any more than an outsider. I don't mind new ideas at all either, I welcome them as long as they are consistent with Nebraska values.

The hire doesn't do much for me either way...On a more positive note, I like the youth and "outside Nebraska thinking" he may bring to the athletic department

With that being said, Congratulations and Welcome to Nebraska Shawn Eichorst!!!

Barry Alvarez is the alpha and the omega of this entire discussion.

Alvarez has used his affiliation with Nebraska and Bob Devaney as a template for his entire career, both as a coach and AD.

In hiring Eichorst, we are putting a guy in the AD position that has been mentored by Alvarez in all the things we would hold dear at Nebraska.

You can analyze the hire inside out, upside down and backwards, but Eichorst's tenure under Alvarez says more than any message board critique you or I can come up with.

And he has solid recommendations from many a coach or Administration staff member that have ever worked with him.

Barry Alvarez and Bo Ryan both speak highly of him at Wisconsin. Ray Tanner at South Carolina speaks highly of him and he may be the best college baseball coach in the country right now.

Here is a link to Eichorst's bio at Miami. Not sure how long it will be up, but he certainly impressed during his 18 month stay at Miami.
