I don't think the SEC wants NC St... They want UNC as badly as Delaney does. The real question in my mind is do they want UNC enough to take Duke too, because I don't think the B10 will do that without plans of going to 18 or 20 teams.
Also, for as many rumors as there have been about GT joining the B10, I still have a hard time buying it... I know the SEC doesn't really gain any TV-revenue by adding GT, but they would certainly be losing if the B10 gained that market. It makes sense to me that the SEC would put the Georgia market on lock-down before letting the B10 into its back yard for recruits and TV.... I just keep getting hung up on the idea that the SEC would want to add NC State & Va Tech when the B10 is going to gain an SEC market/recruiting grounds & the prize of the ACC.... I'll believe it when I see it I guess.
If I were an SEC president I would want to lock-up their current recruiting grounds as much as possible. If they don't its extremely likely that both the B12 & B10 gain ground in the SEC footprint, taking a bite out of the SEC-talent base... All the while the SEC only gains the 2nd best team in NC and Va Tech(whose not any better than Clemson or FSU).

its all about TV money..
SEC wants UNC but they want the B1G (academics)... so the SEC will go after NC st to get the NC TV market
Georgia will block GT to the SEC so there is no chance of that happening... B1G wants the ATL market... however I think that UVA comes with UNC if they do decided to come (GT will be the next round). I think conferences will go to at least 18 and maybe 20

If they go to 20, then we'll see 4 pods of 5 teams. Pods rotate and it sets up well for 9 conf games each year. You can play each school in 3 seasons if desired. Fourteen is clunky to work with. Football is driving this so basketball is not considered as much. 20 schools has more influence too.
I miss the Big 8, PAC 10, SWC days.

Yes, that would be true if they followed the Big 12 scheduling model. It was fun playing OU or UT back to back years. Playing back to back years does add some sizzle with the revenge factor, but you could go quite some time without playing a conference opponent.
What I'd like to see is a format where you play everyone in a 3 year cycle and flip home/away the next 3 years so you would play everyone home & home during the 6 years.
Smaller conferences help create rivalries because of the frequency of play. The pods would be the best way to do that IMO and still play conference members on a regular basis. Rotate the pod pairings annually and the ones with best records face off in the CCG. Four pods that don't rotate and selecting two best records would not be the way I determine who my CCG participants are.
These are different times we live in.
GBR!

Rumor floating around that North Carolina and Virginia to B1G 10
