  • Have to get special teams under wraps... bad call taking Abdullah out because of his muffed punt... Kenny isn't used to that and he just saw the #1 guy drop it. Keep Abdullah in and trust him even if he screwed up once.

  • You should give the fans at the game A+..I thought on in the 4th quarter when the crowd came alive and started making noise ,the team seemed to feed off it and moved right down the field...It looked more like a husker crowd ,then a Northwestern home game..

    obobbo

  • Bet the fans who left at the start of the fourth quarter feel pretty bad now...there was a noticeable number of people leaving.

    Agree. Consistency is lacking.

  • Thx for sticking around Bruntz. Good game coverage.

  • Think a D- might be to high for our special teams

  • If the special teams don't get an F for this game I don't know what an F would be. If Nebraska would have lost that game it would have been because some of worst special teams play I have ever seen. Bad punting, terrible kick off coverage, stupid penalties, and back to back muffed punts would be bad in pee wee football let alone at Nebraska.

  • You should never leave a game early, or turn it off. How can you expect the team not to quit if we do it all the time?

  • I'm going B+ on passing coverage. Overall, I was very impressed with the secondary tonight. Stafford hurt the effort, though.

  • Special teams was overall pretty horrible but I think D- is about right.....F if not for the punts pinning northwestern clear back

    n3bhsker

  • Very good rundown. I think the Husker pass offense grade should be A- minus with the only blemishes being Reed's fumble and the godawful sequence in the 3rd quarter when Ben Cotton and J. Sirles had major whiffs. And besides Bell, Quincy and Jamal T were big (Q is a HOSS) and Taariq Allen's TD grab was bigtime. (Also--no more carping about Rich Fisher coaching credentials OK??--just sayin')

The mental mistakes were just something else. And you can't blame them on inexperience. Stafford's silly penalty, all 3 fumbles, Compton vacating the middle on Mark's long TD, and yes, the decision to start chasing points when the Huskers got to 16-21--those were really "walkabout" moments in my opinion.

They kept Mark pretty well in check in the return/coverage game.

I think Fisher should do ST instead of Els. Els has enough to do with LB coaching and recruiting mgt IMO.

Yeah, your right. Bo keeps TM in the game no matter how badly he screws up so he should do the same Abdullah.

I agree except that you left out the most glaring problem. NOBODY blocks!!!! Unbelievable. On 3 separate kickoff returns the tackler came downfield untouched and ran right passed a wedge player to smack the returner. I can't remember who the special teams coach is, but he should be packing his desk this morning.

I gotta stick up for Stafford here. Review the play, it was a terrible call. 1st, that was NOT a flagable action on Damian at the end of the play. Minor contact. 2nd, and most importantly, the flag should have been on the NW player. Look at what he did to Stafford at the line of scrimmage and the 1st 5 yards downfield. Hands in the face, holding and pulling the facemask. I know you are supposed to keep your cool b/c it generally is the retaliatory act that gets caught but I think Stafford did that for the most part. This game is probably not that close if that game-changing bad call was not made. Worst call I've seen all year in what seems a very flagrant penalty calling environment throughout CFB. I think we need to give DS a break and call a spade a spade here.

Once?! Abdullah is known for fumbling, and that is undeniable.

Certain players do not have be accounatable for their mistakes and he is one of them. Well, I guess I have to back up on that statement some as Bell came in for him, but I know Abdullah will be back there next week.

  • Sounds like it was the Abdullah show again yesterday, did Heard or Cross get any carries?

I think Klein was focusing on his punt returns. Running through the tackles and fielding a punt are different, and Abdullah has been pretty reliable on taking care of the returns.
