Owusu high on Huskers

Oaks Christian player Francis Owusu isn't close to making a decision but the wide receiver does feel strongly about the Huskers.

  • I am really happy with our current staff, and the effort on the recruiting trail. This effort will pay dividends not only now but for seasons to come!

I now will have to go out to some Oaks Christian games to watch this kid play.

    Looks like they are.

  • Does he have a brother who plays WR for Stanford? I'm pretty sure one of their WRs is named Owusu or something similar.

I agree. Our facilities and academic support system are a huge selling point for us.

  • With several wide receivers entering their senior season this fall, we will be looking at having to bring in a number of pass catchers.

we're losing 4 receivers after this season... only one has ever played a significant role in the passing game, Tim Marlow, the rest are: Steven Osborne, KC Hylan and Taylor Dixon.

But you also have to count or the receptions kyler Reed and cotton bring...

Of the top WRs, Marlowe is the only guy we're losing, so not so much.

yes, but those are TEs... so we will be looking for TEs to replace them, not WR. We have one in Hart and will be looking for another in Sandland or Wisnieski.

Yes they are TEs but you have to account for the receptions... And first year starters at TE will not be enough to match the productivity will have to get spread through our WR corps in 2013

Nonsense. No one has any idea how well the new TEs will function, and we have three returning starters at WR, plus several talented back-ups.

Unless the new TEs produce no receptions they have little to nothing to do with how much depth we have at WR or how many WRs we'll need to recruit this cycle. You recruit to replace at each position. You don't recruit to account for players lost at another position.

very well put... new WRs aren't going to play the TE spot anyway so they won't be making up for the missed production of Reed and Cotton. We need quality TEs (i think we got a steal in Hart) to replace these guys.

You are all misinterpretting every single point im making... Someone said we are only losing Marlowe (as a contributor)... All I meant was in the passing game when trying to get talet in the passing game you also have to account fOr us losing talented TE and the productivity will have to show up in other places while the new TEs get their feet wet... Which could possibly be from WRs... Who said WRs would be playing TE? Noone.

Haven't misinterpreted you at all. Just think you're mistaken.

You recruit to replace at a position. You do not recruit at one position trying to replace production at another. You can work to get more production from the WRs on the roster, but you certainly don't necessarily change your play-calling away from the TEs just because they're younger.

Beck is still going to make the same play calls, and they'll expect the TE to get open and make the catch, whoever it is.
