To each his own. Although, as person becomes older the skin being the largest organ, starts to age, and the tats are going to degrade. Just an observation, but I'd never mark up any of my organs on purpose. No knock for those that choose to do so, like I say to each his/her own. If it makes people happy, so be it.

On the West Coast, there seems to be a "counter-culture" vibe with getting Tats. There seems to be a significant part of the female population that is attracted to bad boys. The Tats add to the bad boy image.

In the midwest, the majority of peeps getting tats are more blue collar. On the West Coast, there are similar amounts of white/blue collar people getting tats.

Bottom line: With 37 million people in CA - I'm guessing people are looking for various ways to stand out from the crowd and Tats are the answer from some.

I get the artistry, I get the individualism, I get the personal meaning behind someone that decides to get a tattoo.

I just never wanted one.

I look at it as artwork. And some of them are awesome!

It seems to be a "right of passage", here in Minnesota. As soon as a kid turns 18, they go and get one.... and they've been planning it for a year. Some parents even sign a waiver so their kid can get one earlier.

Probably the strangest part for me NOT wanting a tat, is that I was in the military and 90% of the guys I served with had a tat!

It's all personal choice. Enjoy the artistry, enjoy the designs, enjoy the hot girls wanting to show off their tattoos! And if you want to, go find the the person that has the most ink and sit down and talk to them. I bet you'd get some great stories behind most of them!

I only have one tattoo on my right arm bicep...its the N logo with Huskers faded and hard to make out. Thats what happens 25yrs later to a tattoo.
