OH MY GOODNESS...baseball team in black???!?! DA what gives?

  • per twitter our baseball team is coming out in ALL BLACK uniforms tonight....but black isnt a school color. what the heck is going on? DA can you please help me figure this one out

  • ya they used to wear the black uniforms quite often when dave van horn was coach, I think Anderson kind of went away from them. I personally like the black uniforms with the red lettering.

    Obviously, they have done it before, like basketball has. I think it's a bad idea for football and still hope NU doesn't do it. If they want to use gimmicks, so be it.

    I suppose you would like to see the baseball team wear something like the White Sox did in the 70's. lol

    My understanding is that the baseball team has worn black jerseys for some time, but then only occasionally.

    Frankly, I don't much care what the baseball team wears, and it has nothing to do with the football program anyway.

    And I doubt that they've ever worn an all-black uniform.

    Actually, I don't see the point of this somewhat hysterical post.

    so why does the baseball team have different rules on school colors than the football team? that was your main argument against black for the football team was that black wasnt a school color. shouldnt matter what sport its for. please explain what makes football different than the other teams. they are still Nebraska Cornhuskers and they still have the same school colors. please enlighten me, and go deeper than because you just dont care about the other teams

    you cant say one team can use a color for uniforms that isnt officially a school color but another team cant FOR ONE GAME. your arguments make zero sense.

    You are complaining about why we don't wear black jerseys as a football team and bring up our baseball team as judgement as to why we should wear black jerseys for our football team?

    The real argument is about tradition. Sadly, our baseball team doesn't have any real tradition and needs to fill some seats. If some black jerseys does the deed so be it. Not only has it happened in the past, but it will likely happen in the future to build interest in the baseball program.

    As for football? We don't need to build any interest, or build any brand about our football team. Sites like 247 aren't built due to our amazing baseball, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, or trap-shooting teams. They are built because of football. And yes, Nebraska is about football.

    Personally, I just don't get the whole fascination with black jerseys. I'll wear black if it ever hapens, but I guess I just don't get it. We aren't like everybody else, so why would we want to follow along now?

    Why make our brand 'fake' and be like everybody else? How about we stand out and stand for what we are?

    Yes, we are bland. We are no hype. Come here and be something on your own merit, and not only that, compete at high levels. Be a part of something that doesn't need fluffy uniforms. Be a part of something that doesn't need all the hype that other programs beg to have.

    Be a Husker. And WEAR RED
