***OFFICIAL COMBINE THREAD***

Vertical and broad jump numbers show Rex as solid athlete. 40-yard dash isn't indicative of everything. Overblown in some cases.

But a back of his height and size should be at 4.5. Or else he'll be asked to add weight and become a fullback

not everything but it will adversely affect his draft status regardless... running 4.7 for a RB that isn't 230+ pounds is awful in the NFL. He'll get drafted but he didn't help himself at all at the combine IMO. Would you rather have a RB that jumps high and far.... or one that is very fast?

I'd rather have Rex Burkhead over the guy from Auburn who ran a 4.34.

No doubt he didn't run as well as he needed to but if he can impress elsewhere it lessens some concerns.

No one is drafting him to be their starter. If he can catch, pass block and show the athleticism to make tackles on special teams he'll catch on. Running a 4.7 doesn't eliminate that. Plus, he'll have a chance to improve with pro day.

not saying it did, just saying that the only thing that would have improved his draft stock at the combine would be a stellar 40 time. He didn't get that. I doubt he goes before late 4th (MAYBE) to 7th round.

  • Rex rocked in the 20 and 60 yard shuttle, 3 cone drill, broad jump, and vertical.

2nd in the 20 yard shuttle is solid. Teams have to be impressed with his work in those events. The 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle are the best indicators of flat out athleticism and exposiveness in my opinion.

  • Rex is never going to out run a defense, but he will gain positive yards after contact and gain first downs. His 10yard burst is ok, but his will to get another yard is where he will make his money.

  • Rex pretty much owned the combine except for the 40 time and bench press. i still think he looks like he is running with a limp. but i dont think he hurt his draft stock with his 40 time. definitely didn't improve his stock but i dont think it hurt him necessarily.

  • Speaking of really good backs who didn't overwhelm people at the combine, i've got a name for you all.

    Stepfan Taylor

Ran a 4.72 or .74 with a even worse 10yrd split. Only got 17 reps in the Bench, and did poorly in the Vert and Board.

I am on walterfootball, getting these numbers. They dont the short agility drill stats there.

  • My thoughts on Rex

Do people take the times at the N pro day seriously, or did Rex participate in all the drills because scouts take the numbers in Lincoln with a grain of salt. I know that the numbers on that turf are some of the fastest in the country...

    Anyone have insight here?

I would think it'd be in Rex's best interest to wait until Pro Day to do his 40...

Don't worry, Charles Davis talked about how great he was every time he came on the screen.

Stepfan didn't do himself any favors today.

Looked stiff, slow, and not nearly as athletic as just about every other RB at the combine.

If you are looking for results, the best site is NFL.com in which they have a combine tracker.

Montee Ball had a rough day as well. Bottom half in almost every event for RBs.

  • I've talked myself into Justin Hunter as viable RD. 2 Vikings target. Stock might have risen high enough for Rd. 1.

Unbelievable thinking that Hunter, Da'Rick Rogers, and Patterson all could have been on the same team last year if Rogers had kept his nose clean.

Even with Bray, Patterson, and Rogers Tennessee managed to win a blistering 5 games last year including only a single victory in conference play.

  • I don't know why people weren't so high on Knile Davis, he has been a stud for a long time. The numbers today solidify him as the best back in my eyes. I think he will be the best back out of this draft class. Lacy will be good as well.

Ford and Wood had nice days for themselves.

    Been injured A LOT.

Missed almost his entire Junior and Senior seasons in High School and has suffered some kind of injury every year since his Junior year in High School. His numbers today were crazy, but his proneness to injury is a huge red flag. He has missed more games than he has played in over the past 5 years.

1st round talent, but I'm not sure I would draft him until about the 4th round. Way too big of an injury risk.

If the NFL Combine doesn't measure a player's ability to turn water into wine, then Rex Burkhead is being severely undervalued.

I have myself convinced that if he falls outside the 4th round Dan Beebe has his hand in the Draft somehow.
