IMO, you need a guy like Ron Zook to fill that position. Not saying him specifically because I don't think he would consider it but you need someone who is a real recruiting guru that can really evaluate talent, give the kids that special feeling that brings them in, and coordinate this huge staff to do things the right way. I personally expect we already have a staff in place like the ones discussed here (probably minus the Hooters' girls) coordinating a lot of these contacts and writing facebook posts, it will just have to grow considerably. But you need someone who specializes in doing this well, an up and comer, bring him/her in and pay them well, and hopefully stays around for a while. Someone like we had in Jerry Pettibone and others we had in the 80s. Problem is that those who can recruit tend to go to the top of the food chain in the business in the coaching ranks and won't be satisfied with this position whether or not they are capable of on-field success or not. Zook is a classic example, or Mack Brown. Tough position to fill well for any extended period of time.
