Don't want to speak or the guys, but it's just sort of a "reward" for being an active poster, trying to recruit others to the board, continuing to start/comment in threads, keep things lively when it's slow, etc.
Some of the original members get together from time to time and let me know who to give the badges to that day.
We'll be doing a ton more with badges in the future, too.
