Nebraska kickers disrespect Script Ohio

  • Might explain why Urban didn't take a knee at the end.........

    The last 6 minutes of the half are open game for preparation on the field. If you don't want people on the field when you're dotting the 'i', do it sooner.

    You won, grow up and move on with your life.

    Enjoy being viewed as the bush league outfit in the B1G.

    You certainly deserve it.

    Well, as I said, obviously some of you don't get it...very disappointing.

    I like Nebraska. Still do. I was very pleased when I heard they were joining the B10 because I thought they were a great fit. One of the reasons I was so pleased was because I thought Nebraska fans understood the pagentry of college football, and that it's the traditions that help make it so special. I find it hard to believe that fans of such a storied program do not understand either the pagentry or significance of what has been called by some the greatest tradition in all of college football...the dotting of the 'i". It certainly had no affect on the game. But for either the players, coaches or fans of a program with the historical prestige of Nebraska to not understand the lack of class that was shown by those idiots who went out to practice a couple field goals, is truely amazing. It's not a sin to admit something is wrong or a mistake was made. Your players and/or coaches were wrong last night. Very wrong. And if some of you don't understand that, then perhaps the Big East would be a better fit.

    One thing's for sure - everything is not for everyone.

    I'm one who agrees with you in this matter. And I'm a little perplexed by the responses in this thread. The 'Ohio Script' is one of the most honored traditions in college football. I honor college football so, I honor the 'Ohio Script'.

    I have no idea why our kick team entered the field at that time so I won't comment on it. I do know that lack of respect for Grand Old Traditions began long before last night. TV coverage, at one time, would cover the Script event. Today, not so much. Commercials and commentary reign supreme, you know. Still, I was sorry to learn that had happened.

    Do you think it was the reason Urban didn't take a knee at the end of the game?

    I doubt he even knew about it. But like I said, people should be willing to admit when something is done that is wrong...and Meyer should have taken a knee whether he knew about it or not. No reason to run a play there. I also think he should have sent in the subs after Smith scored the second to last touchdown.

  • Another question. Is it normal for the Script to run into the halftime warmup time? Because Urb seems like the kind of guy who would intentionally setup something like that. Not defending Bo's actions. Just curious.

    I honsetly don't know the answer to that question, but I do know it's never been a problem in the past.

    You certainly deserve it.

    Honestly, there are a lot of bush leaguers in the BIG. Frankly, the more hated we are the better. Bottom feeders are not often hated.

    Should that have happened? Maybe not. Was it wrong? Maybe. I don't disagree with your assessment on that. I don't know why you would start a fight on our board over it. But, since you did, you should expect the replies your getting.

    Do I care if other schools hate us? Nope. Been that way for along time. Because we dominated peoples faces. Much more than dear old OSU has ever done. Cry about petty, chit all u want. Hatred in sports is a good thing. Makes for good games. Hope it continues. I just hope it begins because we stomp peoples faces again, and not over petty crap like this.

    Rest assured, we will be back, and when we are, you'll start hating us because of jealousy. That's what were used to.

    And BTW, it was an alumn from your school that let it happen. lol

    I don't blame Meyer at all. He's entitled to play his people and run his plays. Our job is to stop him. I blame us. Didn't mean to tie the two together, just wondered.

    I wouldn't have messed with the Script. I thought it was wrong. Just me, tho. It's the way I see it.

  • My guess is that they didn't know any better & it won't happen again. Feel free to hate us & treat us like dirt though.

    It's good to be the King.

    Trash Angel

  • I thought u dotted the i pregame? was this at halftime? Im confused. Idk why u are bitching about it here when none of us were able to see it happen. And if they were toward the sideline and not in the way at all I dont see the big deal. Our game preparations cant stop because your band is on the field.

  • Good post. I think all of the Neb that have come to our board have been respectful and added some good conversation.

    Good luck to you guys. I could never see players trying to mess with our tradition (s).

    THEnutbuster

  • It's simple really. If your traditions interrupt the game and game preperations, then its your fault. It's a football game. This is all stupid.

    So your fan base can chant "F*** Nebraska" all they want but, one kicker jogs on the field and its heresy?? Got it. B1G logic I suppose.

    Hahaha no wonder everyone hates Ohio, you guys are complete douchers, and 90% drunk dumbasses. Being in the shoe was like being in block party at a Council Bluffs trailer park.

    bands and sychronized cheering are all that matter in the big ten. As long as they are chanting "f nebraska" in unison it is a good thing.

    Everyone in the B1G hates Ohio State because OSU dominates them on the field.

    Just like they did to your Huskers last night.

  • It's interesting to learn the who's who amongst the new conference fan bases.

    My too early comparisons:
    Ohio St = Texas
    Wisconsin = KSU circa 2000
    Iowa = Missouri
    Penn St (prior to scandal) = CU circa 1990
    Michigan = Oklahoma
    Minnesota = KU

    That sounds about right. I'd maybe replace Minnesota as KU with Indiana.

    And Northwestern is so Iowa State.

    Shut up, you won. Never met a sore winner before.

    I lived in Ohio 9 years while being a Michigan fan. They are the worst fan base you will see. They show no respect for anyone and cry like babies when their team loses one game. The year Florida trashed them I spent a month listening to their arrogant fans telling me OSU was the greatest thing ever before the game. My wife who is an OSU fan even agrees here.

    Blame your D for not stopping the run... Urban was running plays that should of chewed up 3-4 yards at most. If yall cant stop that, then its on yall... not the other team.

    Btw dotting the I is a big deal for us OSU fans/alum's/players, etc. I dont know yall's traditions and frankly they arent my concern, but if your team messes with a tradition yall need to own up to it. I'm not sure if it was on purpose or not, and I dont really care. I do know that once the kickers saw they were in the wrong they should of left the field.

    The OSU fan base is legendary for such moves. They'd boo their own team in a heartbeat.

  • There is a game to be played and players need to get ready at some point. Look, Bo is an from Ohio, he understands the tradition. If it was THAT sacred, he would have told the kickers to hold up.

    We do understand tradition. No one here was making fun of that. The kickers were warming up. Their was no ill intent here. Just guys trying to prepare for a game. Its not like the kickers went out and punted the tuba player in the family jewels.

    Some people are taking this to seriously. I'm sure the guy who dotted the eye last night didnt' lose any sleep over this so i don't know why fans are...
