My thoughts MSU

  • I predict this to be one of the most boring games, for the casual viewer, of the day.

I expect a lot of punts and a field position strategy battle.

Points will be hard to come by

On defense we will be in more base than usual. Bell is going to get his carries and yards. The key is getting them into passing situations where you will then see aggression like last weeks second half.

Offensively, patience will be the key. We will be stopped a lot. We can and will score some but patience is a must. If Taylor and the offense get frustrated and start trying to create or force plays they will result in turnovers.

I think we win 17-13 as long as the offense takes what is given. If they don't we could easily end up on the wrong side

Huskers 17-13 in a boring ugly game ( hey a win is a win)

  • Playstation and Xbox kids may think it's a boring type of game.

Fans of football will think it's a great game. Lots of hard hitting and defense.

Children who like to watch West Virginia beat Baylor 70-63 are not football fans. They are flag football fans.

Real football fans enjoy games like this.

agreed... Defense is football. I think we score 20 though. I know MSU has a great defense and all but I think they haven't seen skill position players like ours all season. Michigan doesn't have our WRs, Wisconsin doesn't have our WRs. Ohio State doesn't have our running backs, and neither does Indiana. We have too many weapons not to throw them all at them from the start of the game. Offense must be aggressive but controlled. We need to have Martinez, Abdullah, Heard, Cross, Bell, Enunwa and Turner all involved in the game from the get-go.

We need to overwhelm them with weapons and unpredictability so that they don't know if we're running up the middle, to the outside, passing shallow over the middle or on a deep post, running a screen (WR or RB) or doing a pump and go trying to get the ball deep. Keep them off balance and we should have some success early in the game. Get a two score lead and then sit on it, don't give their defense an opportunity at creating a momentum swing by forcing a turnover.

On defense we need to load the box with one safety deep and Baker and the middle guys have to get penetration early and often. Bell will get his yards but when we have an opportunity (and we will have opportunities) to tackle him for a loss or no gain we can't let him break tackles. Get them into third and long and then rush four or five and drop into coverage forcing Maxwell to be accurate (which he hasn't shown the ability to be consistent with). Maxwell has a propensity for throwing into coverage... Baptiste will get a shot at a few picks in this game as will PJ and Stafford. Have to be ready.

    NE - 22
    MSU - 13

Thanks for the thoughts. I would take a win anyway we can get it. Hope our guys are focused and have had a good week of preparation. If we can keep from getting down I would hope Beck can stay patient.

Totally agree, for me, I like the games within the games. I've always wanted to be an offensive coordinator, I love watching those guys up in the booth trying to think 4-5 plays ahead, all the while trying to figure out what the guy in the booth next to him is thinking.

Maher needs to be the B1G player of the week again if you ask me. Not only hit FGs when in range, but get some bombs off of his leg and make MSU go 70+ yards for points, they can't do that consistently.

I like your prediction MK, I think our O will pick and choose their spots and we'll score enough to come home with a hard fought, black and blue, victory and a clear path to Indy.

  • My guess - 16-9 Huskers win. I just see it as a tough, tough game. We win with defense because we've gotten better and their O isn't good enough. And we win on offense with a few scattered big plays and field goals.

These type games are not boring or ugly to me. I love 'em. Wasn't our 10-7 win over OU in 2010 one of the most thrilling games in recent times? It was for me.

I was at that game... it was the game I changed my tune on Matt O'Hanlon. Great game.

Yep, and other than the outcome, the Big 12 Championship against UT was one of the most draining games I've ever watched. Was literally exhausted after that thing was over. I can't imagine the emotions the players and coaches went through after how that game ended up. Crazy.

Oh yeah! I was gonna include that game but wore myself out try to come up with superlatives to explain how great that game was.

What was the final - 13-12? Beautiful, beautiful game. Wrong team won, tho. Screw you B12!

And who was the kid that got the 15 yard late hit penalty on the first play after Adi kicked it out of bounds? Seriously, could that game have collapsed harder, the last 45 seconds?? UGH. Wish I wouldn't have brought that up!

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    This!

With this Husker team, this is all you can hope for as they are so unpredictable. You cannot rely on either the offense or defense to carry the other or play consistently well the entire game.

Just gut out a win however you need to.flex
