Mine and Schaefer's New Bet...

  • Let me get my check book......

If Burkhead stays healthy and has a another season with similar rushing totals to the last, you can bet your bottom dollar he will be drafted at some point. Some people want to compare him to Toby Gerhart or Danny Woodhead, but those would both be wildly inaccurate. Rex is not nearly the athlete as either of those guys.

However, he's does the little things well and his production will give him some recognition. I'm guessing we lean on him again this year, so I would imagine he gets a decent amount of exposure and lures some NFL team into taking him with a late round pick.

The value of running back is at an all-time low with the NFL turning into such a pass heavy league, but even the Saints, Lions, and Patriots activated 3 backs in most games. The roster spots are out there. The only thing that will kill Rex would be an injury or a 40 time over 4.6 at the combine.

  • Rex will absolutely get drafted. He has such a unique versatility in the fact that he can run, block, catch, and wildly enough throw, he will get picked up.

  • No doubt he will get drafted...who doesn't want a guy with a good head on his shoulders, always plays hard and is passionate? I could see the patriots wanting him at the right spot in the draft. He does things the "patriot" way. Doesn't hurt that Bill Belicheck was in Lincoln for a that coaches clinic and happened to see a couple practices.
