McWilson Commits To Kentucky

Not sure if you guys realized this, but Mooney is Stoops' alma mater. Recruiting Ohio hard and well was a big part of his decision to take the HC job a few miles down the road.

    So, It is Bo's also.

because its Kentucky. No offense and not trying to be a jerk but that would be like Nebraska stealing a 4* basketball recruit from you guys. Kentucky football is garbage.

Well, as I said, you're entitled to your opinion, including thinking that UK football is garbage. I would venture a guess, however, that if Nebraska began swaying some of UK's basketball recruits that Nebraska basketball would begin to get better.

I feel the same way about Kentucky football.

Youngstown is not "a few miles" down the road.

I just feel bad for Marcus. He has ZERO chance to win big at KY.

He is dropping into a football abyss.

the difference is one person can make a difference in basketball... Kentucky needs a hell of a lot more than a good Safety...

Maybe they planned on using him for basketball as well? They need some four star talent infused there as well. Mediocrity> UK

  • With all do respect to Nebraska's rich football heritage, the CFB landscape has changed so much that it's going to be tough for you to ever get back to national prominence. Not trying to flame, but just stating a fact.

As for Geography...OHIO is just down the road from KY was the point. As for Pelini from Mooney...had no clue, but surprised that none of you saw that as a factor.

Just for the record...capacity at Commonwealth is 68K to your 81K...record crowd was 71K to your 86K. We usually rank 25-30 in attendance.

    Later.

and I think we're starting to get there with this recruiting class. Already some huge upgrades over what was previously committed. We're not gonna be on the level of Nebraska recruiting quite yet, but hopefully in a couple of years we'll get there.

I think Nebraska is gonna have a good team this year, and play for the conference championship. McWilson was sold on Stoops, Eliot and the vision of what we can become. Add in the fact that Marrow was there, and you've got a perfect storm.

Best of luck to you guys in the 13 season. With our schedule this year, you are right, we are gonna need some luck this year.

  • Very odd, never seen the likes of it, very strange folks in Kentucky... is there no one on their board to gloat with? Can't fill their stadium shrug can't populate their forum either, I guess. Very strange.

UK has had pretty darn good attendance for a moribund program. The difference between those two photos is that Nebraska, at that time, was a top-25 team just beginning its slide to 5-7 on the season.

UK, at that time, had two consecutive losing seasons and was sitting at an embarrassing 1-8 going in. Although I didn't agree with it, many UK fans expressed that they refused to go to games in 2012 out of a (misguided, in my opinion) belief that refusing to show up for games would force the administration to focus on improving the program.

Correlation is not causation, but regardless, I'm pleased with the new coaching hire and optimistic, especially given our recruiting at the moment.

Not according to S. Callahan. The family relationship with Marrow was with the Love family -- Love's father went to high school with Marrow. Marrow didn't get to know McWilson until the spring game last year. Marrow was an uncle-like figure for Love, not McWilson, according to Callahan. Maybe he is wrong.
