McWilson Commits To Kentucky

  • Great fans. Marcus this is football not basketball. Sorry but Marcus has been fed a line and he has swallowed the line. THis one sure hurts but I seriously can not imagine Kentucky having much success while he is there. I will probably be wrong but if I am I bet Stoops and Marrow are long gone.

Ya that's the good question. Who lasts longer at UK:

    McWilson or Stoops?

    Or even better,

    McWilson or Marrow?

McWilson will be stuck there when they go 3-9 Stoops final year, but hey... he had a family friend to walk him through all the losses. Until of course Vince gets board and another family friend comes calling.

Exactly. I understand letting Marrow leave was a loss but my god he has a hold on Marcus for him to believe these things about fan support at Kentucky. You know what, I understand folks like Panda and nustudent are right that Bo really messed up in letting Marrow go but if a kid committed to Nebraska for one year thinks it is a great fit at Kentucky because of the great fan I really don't know what to say.

  • My favorite quote from the article,
"It was a little tough but in the end, I had to do what was right for me," McWilson said. "I didn't want to go to a school I didn't feel as comfortable at. Kentucky was the best fit for me. I had to be a man about it and tell [Nebraska] like it was."

Be a man? Last time I checked being a man didn't mean having a family friend hold your hand while you attend college.

I respect the decision you made Marcus. Time to move on huskers.

Haha... I bet their fan (singular) is thrilled!

Kentucky isn't even the best liked team in its state....

I have no respect for this decision. None at all. I would understand more if it was even a team like Mississippi State or something like that. Hell, even Vandy, at least they went to a bowl. But to give the reasons he gave for going to Kentucky? I have no respect at all for someone that can be that blatantly blind about a decision they are making. Sorry, just how it us.

  • I have lost my mind over this last week, no... Since JUCO signing day. You will not see me posting many recruit related things in here for a while.

I would blow this place up. I'm above that, hopefully. Don't push me to hard though hahah

Definitely. The SEC is pretty tough, and UK has not historically had success. Recruits like McWilson will hopefully put us on more level footing in the coming years.

  • You are moving in the right direction. Kid is good. Not so sure he's smart, or strong mentally. But he's got talent.

  • No sour grapes here -- bummed McWilson's going elsewhere. But life's bigger than football, so I can't blame him for doing what he thinks is best for him and his family. Best of luck and more power to him.

Now I'm going to return my focus to our current commits and targets.

Understandable, for sure. Looks like McWilson was a long-time commitment to NU and losing a guy like that is never any fun. I think CMS was very fortunate to get a recruiter like Marrow on staff here.

UK's never going to drag top-flite kids from GA or FL to KY, so the strategy of trying to get in on some of the higher-rated kids from OH is probably the best bet for improving the talent level.

true. lets say 2 years from now Stoops makes it to an 8ish win season. and wins a bowl game. then gets offered a job like a Wisconsin, Cal, UCLA, etc job. he is gone.

when rumors were circulating about Marrow i came to your board and mentioned how good of a recruiter he was... some of your fans didn't believe me... lol

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm not sure why, if CMS was able to win games at UK, he would be better served going (or have a burning desire to go) to another school, particularly to a school in the PAC12 or B10.

The SEC has great bowl affiliations and UK can pay as well as anyone in the nation. I just can't understand the "guarantee" that CMS would leave once he started having success in the SEC.

But then again, Wisconsin lost its coach after three consecutive Rose Bowls to a program that has only very rarely been in contention for a BCS bowl, so I guess anything is possible.

because its Kentucky. No offense and not trying to be a jerk but that would be like Nebraska stealing a 4* basketball recruit from you guys. Kentucky football is garbage.

  • Not sure if you guys realized this, but Mooney is Stoops' alma mater. Recruiting Ohio hard and well was a big part of his decision to take the HC job a few miles down the road.

Holy crap where did you find this geopraphical gem. I had to look it up to make sure you weren't messing with us. Did you guys catch this? I'll dispatch the horses to deliver your maps byc.
