If spring is any indication of the regular season (which it isn't) this might be a fun summer in KC. People outside of KC don't realize how HUGE baseball is in this city and how KC is one of the best baseball towns in America. It's been so long since we've had a competitive team, people have just lost sight of that. I think the city showed our baseball passion last summer with the All Star Game and hopefully we can carry some momentum into 2013, they have the tools in place, the rotation just has to stay healthy and I think they'll be okay.
Bring on Opening Day!!

As a long suffering Cubs fan I'm realistic I want to see just overall progress. I like what Theo and Jed Hoyer are doing with building the Cubs from the foundation up.
They have some great young prospects in the minors in Jorge Solar, Javier Biaz and few more.
For this season as much as i would love for them to shock everyone and win the NL Central and make the post season i don't see it but Im mainly wanting to see Castro and Rizzo become a top tier Shortstop and First Baseman, find someone to man 3rd base if its Ian Stewart or Josh Vitters just someone who can swing the damn bat.

Yoenis Cespedes just had 11 family members come to the US from Cuba. I choose to believe this will allow him to play unburdened and probably hit 123 home runs this year.

How's your team doing? High hopes or huge concerns? Any surprises or disappointments?
As a Royals fan, I'm not sure the spring could be going much better. I hope we just get a Cactus League trophy and have a parade and all it a day!
The early returns on the Meyers trade are looking pretty damn good as well. The rotation has the best ERA in the Cactus league and the 3 new guys are below 2.00 ERA, so that's nice to see. Also, the Rays are none too pleased with Meyers and he will not break camp with the MLB club. They are very disappointed in his plate discipline and his overall development. Long term, Meyers is still going to be a quality player, but if the new pitchers can get the Royals to be competitive for even 1/2-3/4 of this season, it's a win for them.
The offense is on a tear as well, led by Alex Gordon who is murdering the ball, with power, hitting a solid .536 with 3 HR and 10 Runs scored from his leadoff spot.

He probably will be, but if the Royals gain 15+ wins from getting two front end guys, the deal is a steal for the Royals. They Royals lineup is ready to win now, but they HAD to get pitching and that's what they did. If both teams feel good about it, it's a good trade. Royals fans just aren't used to REAL MLB trades, we over value our prospects because our MLB talent normally blows.
Meyers might be a future star and looks to be just that. But, that's fine, we need pitching and need it now, which is what we got. We are still absolutely loaded with prospects, which, until they produce at a MLB level, that's all they are. Look at Alex, he was a "can't miss", ESPN the Mag's "Next" cover boy, the next George Brett, etc. Well, he tore up the minors, just like Meyers and when he hit the MLB club, he tanked and just couldn't make the transition. He struggled for 3+ years going back and forth up and down I-29 until it finally clicked.
I'll take Shields and Davis for the next 3-4 years and see how Meyers makes the transition. Just me though. I agree though, Meyer has the potential to be a stud, but until he is, all it is is potential.

Just beat the Cardinals. Their fans are unbearable and you have no idea how much it pains me as a life long Royals fan (well, almost, I grew up a Kirby fan and a Twins fan) and marrying into a family of Cards fans, see them have success and the Royals just flounder year after year. It freaking pisses me off to no end!! I just want them to fail miserably and I want a summer of competitive baseball on THIS side of the state!! I'm tired of the I-70 series here in OUR town being 70% red a-holes!! Keep the K Blue Baby!!
