Lurkers/New folks...Come in and say hello.

  • We've had some great discussions all the way through the end of the season. I'd just like to welcome all those who lurk and read (as I often do) or are just signing up for the final push to signing day.

    I remember hearing second and third hand recruiting information, and it wasn't enough. So I bit the bullet and joined TOS in early January, some 5-6 years ago. Once 24/7 got up and running I knew this was the home for me. The network of national analysts is what really appeases me, as well as the COMPLETE coverage of major sports. (The VIP room covered a bunch this week.)

    Just wanted to welcome all those who have joined or made the switch, and say hello to some faces who may have not posted yet. I'd love to hear some opinions about how you feel this recruiting class is shaping up, and what other Husker sports you like to follow. (Personally, I'm a hoops fan and ecstatic Tim Miles is in charge!)

    January 14th is my one year anniversary here at HI-24/7.

    I had never been on another site, but I was looking for recruiting news and much more. I actually heard it advertised on Sirius/XM channel 91 (College Sports Nation). I was absolutely blown away by the high integrity and knowledge of this site, both from the staff writers and the insightful members of this board.

    Living outside of Nebraska, this site was a blessing for the insatiable appetite of this Husker fan! When you grow up in Nebraska, you take it all for granted... The Husker flags flying on the farms as you drive by. Everyone wearing red, no matter what Saturday it was. Listening to the game on A.M. radio, on a cool October day, as you're raking leaves and having to imagine being at the game!

    I cannot imagine how some of you find the time to read and post on so many different threads, but I cannot thank you enough for adding insight and well thought out arguments. I guess I'm working the wrong job, so if any of you are hiring for any of these web surfer positions, I'll have my resume' out to you asap!

    Thank you 24/7 and Husker Illustrated for keeping the Husker blood pumping all year long! GBR

  • I'm still a lurker at heart but I do chime in from time to time and the only thing I can tell the new people giving 24/7 a try is that I have 3x as many posts in 1/3 the time I was on the other site. I quit posting at all over there because everytime I did I would get trashed for it, and although I am not thin skinned to the point it bothered me it did take the fun out of it. so to all the new people post away, have some fun and be prepared to be welcomed by many !! GBR

    Nice post man. I think that you summed it up pretty well. Argue the post, not the poster. 90% of the time there is respect and meaningful debate. We have a strong family atmosphere in here as crazy as that sounds tonight. Still waiting for a single digit poster to bite.
