Compton's leadership will replace Lavonte's without much of a hiccup but Compton plays a different position and won't be able to replace his production. i would say Zaire Anderson, Santos and Whaley will have to fill in collectively to replace the overall impact David had. Which says a lot about David's ability.

Personally, I think the defense will be collectively better and more disciplined this year than a year ago, but might lack star power.

I will echo Kleins words as well. Compton hit his stride at the end of the year and is a well respected leader on the team. Not a star, but will be very productive next year. As for LD's position, people are expecting a gang of replacements, but it will be between Zaire Anderson and David Santos and I honestly have no idea who comes out with more PT, but am confident that the victor will produce. I am actually not too worried about LB this season. I expect the group to surprise this year.

I've actually heard from multiple people that Santos was beginning to get lost in the shuffle this spring... I had high hopes for him but he's still very young.

Stafford having a better understanding of the defense will be key to everything. He was freelancing for most of last season, I think.

I too think Stafford will be a very physical presence.

Fact is, you can't simply replace a David. Unique talent, like Suh was.

All you can hope for is better team play all the way around.
