One more thing: Did he really call Clark while he was still on his Nebraska visit? That's a bit classless, I'll admit.

    Yes he did.

Haha. Well, after listening to his recent press conferences, it definitely sounds that he is striving to run a very clean program here. After that Tat crap, there is no more tolerance for nonsense. He can't play dirty here. Aggressive and tenacious? Yes, but not dirty. Now, his recruiting tactics may be a bit (Tress was like a recruiting angel in comparison).......Lol, but he is definitely one of those guys where you love him if he is coaching for your team, but hate it him if he's not. I hated him at Florida, but am starting to like him here.

One more thing: Did he really call Clark while he was still on his Nebraska visit? That's a bit classless, I'll admit. I'm elated to be the recipient of him, though. (That's an understatement)

Once again, I'm not trying to rub off as arrogant on the entire Clark course of events, but as a Buckeye, I hope you can understand that I'm thrilled to have him on our team.

He was at the airport when Urban called. Urban asked him if he would be interested and Clark said yes. Clark said he would think about visiting and the rest is history. If it wasn't for us going after him I doubt Urban would have found him. He was still flying under the radar and Florida was targeting higher level WR talent and they got those guys.

It was a strange ending for sure. It isn't often a recruit will spend time studying the WR routes we run, spend time at our bowl practices, come for an official visit, and then suddenly take us off his interest list after Urban called.

We never found out why we got cut from the list so quickly after Urban called him on that Sunday. Northwestern was his lead team for a long time and he cut them out just as quickly as he did with us. Once Urban called he basically showed up on your campus and committed. It was a very strange ending. He even spent time studying our WR routes and spent time at our bowl practices. I don't want to accuse any school of some shady stuff, but I had the feeling, and still do, that he got paid off to take us off his list. I don't know if that was Florida or Clemson, or even OSU.

Outside of the McWilson craziness, which is something I still can't figure out why he went to Kentucky, the way way the Clark ordeal ended is the most confusing thing to me for our recruiting for the 2013 season. Everything else that took place for the recruiting season I understood why things went good or didn't go the way we had hoped.

If anything, it was Florida pulling some shady stuff. There is absolutely no tolerance for that crap at Ohio State, and I can't imagine Clemson pulling that. Florida boosters, however, had better access to him (location) and were also the projected team to land Clark for the past month and a half. A few days before signing day was when it became clear that he was to sign with the Buckeyes. Clark, being a Florida native, likely had some admiration of Meyer growing up, as Meyer had coached quite a while down there.
Overall, after a great visit here, a familiar coach, and the opportunity to join an incredible recruiting class over here in Columbus, I'm certain it was fair play on our part.

Haha, I wasn't even aware that we had a baseball team (just kidding). I don't follow really follow baseball--pros or collegiate. I assume that you would probably know more about the Buckeyes' baseball team than I do.

The only college baseball I've really watched was a few years ago in the College World Series. Omaha, is such a beautiful place. Did they move it to a dome or some other larger complex? Is it still in Omaha? Just curious.

He was a tricky kid to figure out. He was playing his cards very closely to his chest. Recruitment of 18 year old kids can be puzzling.

Wait, Suh is playing high school ball in MO right now? That Collins looks like a man amongst children out there. The competition may not be stiff, which explains for his mid-rating, but he could pan out (just like Adam Taylor) to be 5 star potential.

"I don't follow really follow baseball"

    Well you should. nono

CWS moved down the hill a couple miles to the brand new TD Ameritrade park. No dome but a most excellent facility. B1G tourney will be here for two years starting this summer.

BTW, OSU is expected to challenge for the conf title this year. We'll see about that.

Hahaha. I'm more of a football nut, but I'll look into it. Do they air regular season games often on the B1G network, or would I have to attend the games in person? Regardless, it would be an enjoyable experience to follow this summer. You've got me interested now.

B1G baseball on TV? I wish! A few games pop up now and then. The conf tourney (last full week in May) will be on BTN.

    Here's the routine...
Season begins next Friday. Loooong non-conf schedule. Conference play starts late March. It's all over come June when the NCAA tourney begins leading up to the CWS mid June.

Everyone plays three game series v someone over the weekend. Fri, Sat, Sun. That's the big deal. The weekend series. Every weekend a new opponent. The Friday night starting pitcher is "Da Man".

All season long there are mid week games as well. One or two. These are always non conference opponents. Lots of non conf games. Total of 55 scheduled games per season.

    See you at the park!

Yeah he's plain nasty. Going to take some time to get up to D1 speed, but he's definitely got All American potential, imo.

I don't see why you got a "vacation" from your board, you seem like a good guy to me!

    Agree on Collins.

As for that "vacation," I received it for some abrasive back-and-forth conflict over there on Bucknuts. They are all wonderful people, but can surely spit out some irritating and rash interactions. Some of them are casual bandwagoners. That isn't the real problem, but it's when they attempt to pose as the face of the university and program. That's where the trouble begins. They'll go off praising the SEC and emit only a SOFT dislike of michigan (a sin for Buckeye Nation). When you attempt to oppose their philosophy, they abruptly reject it and flame you for it. Like I said, many of them think theirselves are the "it" and the "man" over there, and that their opinion rises above all else. Therefore, you cannot express your own views over there. If you do, they'll gang up on you and persist to make you out to be the bad guy until you are banned. In my case, it was the most one-sided ban you can imagine. The staff did not look at both sides.

  • Also, I look to return with a more friendlier and accepting attitude. Thanks for your kindness over here, I greatly appreciate it.

One more thing: I never ever ever ever used a swear word over there, but I've been called atrociously horrible things. But, they won't get suspended because they continually brown-nose the staff.

Who is your favorite player(s) of your 2013 class?

    For my Buckeyes:

Offense: James Clark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pVxgxMuCTU EDIT: I don't intend to come off as arrogant here in regards to Clark. I forgot about that.

    Defense: Mike Mitchell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF3U6ke8T8I

    Offense: QB Johnny Stanton
    - It's hard not to go with the QB, even though Terrell Newby looks like a sure fire star. People like to saw he's Tebow like - and he is - but he REALLY reminds me of Rick Mirer at Notre Dame.

    Defense: LB Marcus Newby
    - Hearing a lot of good things about Gregory and god knows we need help up-front. However, this other Newby kid plays like he's possessed out there.

You know my heart is with Newby, but Taylor is growing on me. He is a sure thing, a safe pick to be productive. Newby has the wow factor that makes me angry football season is so far away.

I think that was when we had less confidence in Newby.

Stylistically, if we were to get one back. I'd want it to be a player like Newby or JoJo.

The fact that we got BOTH Adam and Terrell has me over the moon. SERIOUS potential. It's like Georgia's RB class last year. Really similar.
