...It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.
W. C. Fields
It's funny how everybody considers honesty a virtue, yet no one wants to hear the truth.
If Chizik gets run out of town, this will be an interesting job search to monitor, although I don't think it will involve any big names.
When Tommy Tuberville left Auburn he supposedly resigned, but most feel he was railroaded by those infamous Auburn boosters. The best thing Auburn could come up with was a coach from Iowa State who had lost his last 10 games.
Low and behold, GC delivers a NC early on but now that he is about to have a losing season, he's likely out. Tuberville was forced out under similar circumstances.
I don't think Auburn attracts a name head coach from anywhere for this job. The first name out of the hat is an offensive coordinator, and many around here don't think SW was very good at that, let alone a prime HC candidate.
Ultimately, I don't think Bo is as motivated by money as some seem to think. He's got a great gig, Mary Pat and the kids love it here, and they are already making more money than a guy like Bo is likely to ever spend.
IF Chizik gets fired Charles Barkely is going to rally for Charlie Strong....
And as far as if there is an opening or not come the end of the season, my opinion is that it will depend on how well Mr. Chizik can hold together his recruiting class. If it starts falling apart then it will be easier for the university to let him go.
