Interesting Stat

  • I stole this line from the article talking about the upcoming Big 10 media days. They hard a short line about Nebraska and some of the questions that we have. The mentioned something that I guess I didnt realize. They were talking about our defense and said:

"Still, in that four-year span, Nebraska is one of just eight Division I-A schools that have won nine games every year in that timeframe."

I know I have given Bo and this staff it's fair share of blows, but that is a pretty impressive stat to be able to tell people. I know we all want a little more, I am in that group as well, but to be able to say that only 8 teams have been able to do what we have done in the last 4 years is pretty impressive.

  • Here's the list with their total wins for the last four years.

    1. Boise St -------- 50
    2. Alabama -------- 48
    3. TCU ------------- 47
    4. Oregon --------- 44
    5. Virginia Tech -- 42
    6. Okla St --------- 41
    7. Nebraska ------ 38
    8. W Virginia ------ 37

A whole bunch of 'Blue Bloods' are not on the list. Also, Pelini has the best winning % of all coaches hired for the 2008 season.

I didnt quote whi said it, but in reference to what Bo was left with, he had a loaded defence and a very funtional offense....

Without looking, I believe every team on the list has been to a BCS game in that span, or close to that span, correct?

I meant more a team that was in total disarray and had no clue how to win. He was able to take the talent that he was given and turn them from a below .500 team to a 10 win team immediately. Now, maybe Callahan would have been able to turn it around in that following year too, but from what I know, that would have been a total long shot.

The team morale and chemistry was awful.

The only one I'm not 100% sure of is Va Tech, but im almost positive they have been to one in the last four years. The rest of them have

Yeah, cuz that 2007 defense was just phenomenal.

If we were in same conference as Boise, TCU, VT, or WVU we would have been in 4 straight BCS games...

V-Tech played KU in the Orange Bowl, but I think that is one year outside the 4 year mark.

agreed. unfortunately we were soooo close to winning 2 big XII titles and if we had won those games we likely would of won 2 Fiesta Bowls. Our 2009 team would of beat anyone the way we were playing at the end of the year. And we would of smoked UCONN if we had closed out against OU. We would be sitting real pretty. AHHHh makes me mad to think about.

Uh, neither Zac Lee nor cody Green would have made a dime's bit of difference against Oklahoma.

0 yes Zero points in the 2nd half. I would say you are wrong and so would the 2010 team.
