Im Proud

  • I only read the OP and truly appreciate the optimism. And I think there are a lot of good things to take from this game but with that said I will never be proud of a loss. Bc when it's all said and done its still a loss. Maybe that's just my competitiveness but that's the way I see it. Also, I'm not proud that we were able to hang with a NC caliber team bc we should expect to compete with the best. Should never be a surprise or an accomplishment just to "hang with someone"

That's one great thing about this site. Even when things aren't going well the posters on this board are head-and-shoulders more reasonable than other places. We appreciate that, and I know you guys appreciate it.

Some folks have been telling me that others may be making the move here from other sites soon. I hope many do, but I hope they are the right kinds of posters as well - ones that understand what we're building here.

This is awesome. And IMO where RSS screwed up. They never really cared about the content of their board or they didn't have the guts to maintain a standard. I can't tell you how many times I read comments about "get over it, it's the internet." Well, from what I can tell social media has become a pretty major component of human communication so why would it be any more acceptable to be disrespectful than if you were in a coffee shop? I mean, this isn't youtube or some other "comments" type of deal. I research boards for my truck, watches, guns, etc. You can't act like a freak there so why here? Anyway, I'm rambling. Love this place.

  • Thanks, Lou. We're building something special and more and more people are finding out about it every day. We're only about 19 months into this thing and we've come a long way already. The guys working here are great, the posters are great and the tech team is innovating/improving all the time. We have a lot of great stuff on tap for the new year, and we'll be rocking and rolling from now to Signing Day to Spring practice to camps and combines, and beyond.

Thanks again Lou and all the guys like Lou. We're happy to have you all.

Spot on Lou. Maybe because it is a bit smaller group i feel like many of the posters on here are friends and while friends may disagree they can do it without be disagreeable. Hope it stays this way as it makes it enjoyable and good community.

It is kinda crazy how everybody on here "knows" everybody. On RSS you were just another post for the most part. I know we don't get the traffic, but I kind of like it that way if it means we can keep the integrity of the boards. I welcome all who may come over, they just better understand we are not here for a bashfest of players, coaches, and other posters.

We just gave up 45 points & 585 Yards to a team who was completely un-motivated to be there, had no curfew all week in Orlando & had been getting plastered nightly at bars, we didn't go toe to toe with anybody.

Moral Victories should not be talked about.

Our Defense is on par with the 2007 unit, yet everyone is talking about this moral victory. no

+UV; Panda_Bear you are a true Nebraska fan for real; IMO of course! Like you i will never surrender to mediocrity. Whoever started this thread is playing Sports politics and i respect him for his frankness!

Like you Panda_Bear you are not alone!! You told it like it is as we say; you did not try to smooth anybody's furs! Nebraska did not WIN; we failed to close the deal. For those that accept: "45 points & 585 Yards in a loss" saying it’s ok am proud; very unNebraska like man. explodeNebraska got lots of leaks (using Coach Bo’s words in the past) to fix on that sinking ship; especially on the defensive side of the ball. GBR!!

I don't know offhand what the points & yards were in the 4 losses but they are huge. Those 4--UCLA, Ohio State, Wisc in the conf championship game and now Georgia--were THE games this year and not only did we whiff but we got smoked. There is no amount of "we can play with anyone" that can cover up for those outings.

And one more thing--getting ready for kickoff yesterday my oh-so-perceptive better half said, "How come the other team always looks bigger than our guys?" Kinda says it all to me.

  • There was practically no one who thought we would win this game.

A great many people thought we would get totally blown out. We didn't. Yes, you can play the "we're Nebraska" card and whine about how we should be doing better, but most of the naysayers thought we would be behind by 4 touchdowns at half. We we're ahead. Despite obvious flaws and breakdowns, the team competed very well overall given Georgia's obvious advantage in talent.

Regardless of all the stats you want to quote, turnover margin again was the principal factor. While even or ahead in turnovers, we were even or ahead on the scoreboard with a team a few seconds away from playing in the BS CG. Once we fell behind on turnover margin v. a team of this caliber, we we're cooked.

Big plays were fatal. 40% of Georgia's offense came on 4 plays. As was the case all season, AG was in position to make plays but couldn't knock the ball down. The safeties, either by design or breakdown, were never in position to help in the deep passing game. That the defense has become the albatross for a Pelini coached team is indeed mind boggling. I agree that the safeties are too involved in run defense due to weakness in the LB corps, and thus frequently out of position in the passing game.

The offense was very good, minus the critical turnovers. 26 first downs and 440 yards of offense against Georgia was a credit to Beck and the team's execution.

While there are no moral victories, common sense tells you that given the match-up, Nebraska competed well overall. Basically no one expected us to win, and few even expected us to compete. Losing by a couple of TD's when we went -1 in turnovers to a team an eyelash away from the NC game should not shock or disappoint anyone, unless you were expecting some type of miracle.

You can complain about the overall level that Nebraska football is at these days and that would be relevant, but using this game as another reason to pile on Bo and this team is just beating a dead horse. This wasn't a game anyone expected us to win and we didn't.

Very well--but having a game in hand and then losing focus is maddening. The team from coaches on down let the Abdullah fumble get to them and that lapse took a lot of the luster off a terrific 3 quarters of play.

If anything, the critique should be even MORE focused now. Questions need to be asked with this theme--"What happened in the home stretch? Why did we lose focus? What needs to change in how we manage the game?"

Those are not talent questions. Those are not recruiting questions. Those are GAME MANAGEMENT questions and they need to be answered and dealt with or these types of losses will continue.
