Sorry Adams but this happens every year. Losing to a team we shouldn't. Yes we have people in mind to take over for Bo. And guess what, for enough money they will come.

I'm still behind Coach Pelini and I think he can direct us to a 9-10 win season and should keep his job.

However, my biggest disappointment has been this defense. This was suppose to be Bo's specialty. They were average last year and appear to be awful this year.

We won't win many games playing like this.

To follow up on what you have said, those thinking we are going to get rid of Bo when he's winning 9 games a year simply aren't thinking straight. He isn't going to get fired for that, no matter how much some people think we "deserve" someone better. It may be great message board fodder, but in the real world it's barely a consideration.

As for TM, he continues to be a front runner. When things are good, he can be special. When things are not going well, he has a strong penchant to wilt. I doubt this ever changes, as I don't think you can teach a player to be poised under pressure. It's more of an intangible. He's a better QB this year than before, but we're likely to see more examples of how far short he is of being what we truly need.

Defensively, there are no plausible excuses for where we are at this time. You can argue that Bo is "square pegging" the group as a whole into a scheme they are unable to collectively master. You can argue that we simply haven't recruited enough high caliber talent to compete at a high level. Both are probably true. As I mentioned in another thread, it's scary to see that guys like Cam Meredith and Alonzo Whaley are the best guys we have at their positions. Even though he's a legacy, Baker has been a major disappointment on the DL as well. Too many inadequate players.

If we had either a quality DL or LB group, we could patch things together, but both are mediocre. Compton is a good player when flanked by quality at the other LB positions, but since he's the best of the group, we suffer. I think our corners are pretty good and our safeties merely OK. Stafford is over rated, IMO. Help is on the way with some of the young guys and recruits, but that's down the road. BTW, what happened to Zaire Anderson? God, do we need some LB's who can play outside the hash marks.

Concerning UCLA, I think they are better than many believe. They were under achievers with talent in recent years, but you have to give Mora credit, they were open for business the other night. They will be interesting to follow the rest of the year. Our loss to them may end being less a black mark than it seems right now.

To roll out the cliches, it's always better to lose early. Take this experience and make something of it, and we could still have a stellar season.

I sincerely do not understand what the size of Bo's paycheck has to do with anything. The next guy, whoever it is, will be paid more and we have no idea whether he''l be able to do any better.

I see, because I don't equate the size of a paycheck to actual performance by 19-20 year old college students it's impossible for me to have a rational conversation with you?

Some really great points made on this thread, I personally, am glad to see that we are not all asking for Bo's whistle just yet. I also understand those that feel angst toward the current staff, especially after such a heartbreaking loss, which is what every loss is when you are a Husker fan. Trust that it took me until today to even want to discuss Husker football, I was a bit "anger-drunk" post Rosepocalypse, this, that, you, the next person who texts me about this loss like I didn't watch the game! Again, I was "anger-drunk" so I may have asked for Bo's head Saturday night or cursed my parents parents for being born a Husker fan, but today is new day and the hangover is almost gone, almost.

I don't want Pelini fired. It is going to take some time and dedication to get the program back to greatness, so we need to give Bo some time. Haven't we learned our lesson to be patient with Tom Osborne, from Tom Osborne himself? If Tom believes Bo is the guy then who the hell are any of us to question, right? As others stated look how long it took Osborne to get it done, with the landscape today shouldn't we have a little more patience, especially with a first time coach? I surely don't want to become Notre Dame, and chase a golden gofer when we potentially have one in the lawn clawing his way up. We are Nebraska so let's stay classy and respect the process to become great as we expect players to do the same.

Plus we can't keep comparing other coaches to Bo, it isn't fair and basically any example could be picked apart. Saban did his first head coaching stint in the Big Ten, and resigned after 4 years of being anything but great, would anyone question his aptitude? Took Mack Brown eight seasons for a NC and he has an endless supply of top recruits. I would rather have a coach come here and put in his leg work, even suffer a bit, and then make it to the top, it shows resolve and dedication. A coach can leave us too, and I would rather not see what Bo could do if he was given the reigns to Georgia or Arkansas, would you? Don't kid yourself, Bo's phone would ring and could be ringing now...
