I'd have to say 2009. If we assume both teams are fully healthy, it is absolutely 2009. Remember the Holiday Bowl? I don't think that Nebraska team loses to anyone in the country that day if they play like that. The 2009 team was the one team that seemed capable of bottling up mobile QBs. Imagine forcing TM to throw constantly at Prince, O'Hanlon, Asante, Gomes and Dennard. Good luck.
That defense had how many future NFL players? Suh, Jared Crick, Pierre Allen, Larry Asante, Dejon Gomes, Eric Hagg, Prince Amukamara, Alfonzo Dennard... I'm probably forgetting a few. And Matt O'Hanlon, who was a great college safety and awesome story. The offense had Roy Helu and Rex Burkhead as well as guys like Niles Paul and Mike McNeill. No shortage of talent, but a lot of injuries and not a great OL... which plays to the weakness of this year's defense.
