I would love another shot at Lambert, but I think the ship has sailed. He picked Rutgers for their Academics and for proximity to home I doubt we have a shot at him. Fuller on the other hand could be a lock now if this rumor is true (we all saw how the Chip Kelly one turned out). Bad hire for Tampa though, Schiano is a good college coach but beyond that...

Let's just say he'll be back in the college coaching ranks soon.

  • Get Lambert on the phone right now. Fuller is N.

  • I hope we can get Lambert... I think now it's just a battle between us and Zona for Fuller. There are beginning to be way too many threads on this... is there a way to combine?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers close to hiring Rutgers Scarlet Knights' Greg Schiano as coach, sources say - ESPN New York

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are near an agreement to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano as their new head coach, according to league sources.

  • I don't know that we'd take 5 linebackers, which leads me to believe that the coaches won't make that phone call. But I definitely think that Fuller is "N" with that news! He does'nt have to wait to Sunday now. Just announce it TODAY!

If all 5 were freshman I would agree, but since 1 is a juco, you can't pass giving Q's talent one last shot.

We would have taken 5 before he went to Rutgers. I think we still would, especially with a few more scholarships opening up.

Yeah, I would be shocked if Bo and the guys aren't blowing up Lambert's phone this morning, if nothing else just to gauge his interest. If he truly picked the school because it's close to home than so be it, but being committed to a school that now has no coach would be a great reason to pick up the phone at least.

Fuller HAS to see this as his sign I would hope!!

But consider that we got in on Afalava after we saw the writing on the wall with Lambert. Do any of you think we can afford to take 5 linebackers in this class? With very few spots available I can't see that happening. With TE still being a need in this class(14th commit). Hopefully 2 D tackles (15th & 16th). 1 O linemen (17th) Fuller @ QB (18th) 1 Running back in Cross (19th). And hopefully 2 secondary players (20th & 21st commit). With two schollys being vacated, what's the maximum amount of guys we can take? Anyone know for sure? I'm glad I'm not the coach & have to sort through that. That's why Pelini is getting paid an extra $8,000 per month now so he can make those decisions. GO BIG RED!

We didn't get in on Afalava after anything, we have been recruiting him for a long time.

I think we would take Lambert and then not take one of the DTs to be honest. We were in on Afalava way before Lambert made his decision. I think Thomas Brown was the kind of surprise out of the class for LBs, but if Lambert were open to it we would take him and make room somehow.

As always I'm guessing we wont get everyone we think and end up with 1-2 'ships available.

But if something crazy happened, I think the staff would't be opposed to Sam Cotton getting a grey shirt. In this situation with family and location, I don't see it SEC like.

And no way do they not take 2 DTs to get 5 LBs. Curry and VV are in no doubt if they both want.

BTW, Iowa only has 1 LB commit. Who knows...and as usual F*ck Iowa!

Why is taking 2 not ready to play DTs more important than taking another guy at our thinnest position?

  • Big bodies who can play aren't easy to find and the staff thinks both of these guys can play. Also, injuries in 2011 showed you better be deep there and we aren't yet. This move is for 2013 too.

Four LBs is a great haul as it. Also, people need to realize LB is the toughest position to learn on D, so the freshmen LBs all will likely RS next year. Yes, even Rose.

Im saying I don't think they will cut a DT for a LB right now. I see 5 LBs if QL wants in.

  • How much interest does Fuller have in Arizona? If Rutgers is out is Arizona also a threat?

If it comes down to a number crunch, Q is way closer to seeing the field than either of the DT targets. Why not take 1 and shoot for the moon next year with DTs. There are plenty of guys just as talented in next years class, neither of the guys this year are can't pass up talent.

This is what I am thinking. Fuller is a program-changing athlete at almost any position but he will most likely be in a scat back/slot back role.
