Grade the class!

  • Solid B+ for me. Hope next year for solid A.

    What do you all think?

    Somewhere between B and B+.

The need for a JUCO DT was so huge and we completely swung and miss.

Good class, possibly even very good...but not great

  • Concur nu. Could have been great.

  • I'd say B+ and if we can lock down a majority of the kids within a 200-300 mile radius we very well could be on our way to an A... a lot of talent in and around Nebraska this upcoming year. add that to our Cali, Ohio, Fl, and Texas connections and 2014 class could be great.

  • Like others, I would give it a solid B+. But it all paper based right now. What matters moving forward is player development. I would not be surprised to see our recruit from South Dakota becoming one of the better players in the class.

  • with the loss of Chase Rome and no obvious replacement... this class can't be higher than a B+ to me. I'm going to give it a B. Very good class... lacking in a few key areas.

My thoughts as well....I would have given it a B+ this morning. With the news about Rome...it only emphasizes how big a miss that JUCO DT was.

  • B-. Solid class but nothing spectacular.

  • Agree with what y'all said.
One other thing I would add that is significant.
We really didnt get a true corner. Boaz is more of a hybrid or a safety. He is physical but don't know if he really has the hips or speed for corner.
I don't think we really landed any corners last year either iirc.

  • C+

Didn't secure immediate needs at TE or DT

Didn't secure any top flight WR's or CB's

Missed golden opportunity to get 2 upper tier OT/OG from surronding Midlands states in IL, MI, IN PA, CO (which had 13 - 4/5*)

Nice class but not close to the 2011 class on paper.

the only thing I disagree with here is OT/OG, I think we did dang well in this area.

  • If I graded the class on a scale of what I think we should usually do then my grade would be different.
By this I mean what should be the average class we bring in, what would be below or above that average.
Also I used the word should not have.
What do we think nebraska is capable of bringing in as an average?

With that type of thinking I would give this class a c+. By that I mean a little above average. I think we should be able to on average bring in classes similar to this. We were ranked about 23 according to 247.
A good class would be more like 15-17 and a great class would be 12 or better.
So thinkin of it that way I would say c+.

  • C+. Good talent in this class, a couple potential stars. But we missed on a couple that would put this class in the top 10. We need to be in the top 10 IMO. And it was a shaky recruiting cycle. Ended better than I thought it might though.

A couple guys I love, Gregory, both Newbys, Banderas and Knevel. And Love. A great potential there.

  • I would also go in the B maybe B+ range. I don't see any reaches in the class which I think is good. COuld we say that about some of Bo's classes I say no. The DT thing is what is concerning. I don't know how in the heck we mask that in 2013. Still somewhat surprised there wasn't a late signing JUCO DT to pick up that could help. Perhaps there might be someone like SJB that we can pickup between now and fall that could help in this department. I think we brought in some raw talent on the OL and DL and quite honestly I would rather have that than 3 star guys that may have maximized their talent. I think things finished better than they could of and seems the staff is improving. As I said in another thread on Tuesday, I think Joseph, Fisher, and Garrison have the potential to do some good things on the recruiting trail and I hope some of the others step up similarly. Will be interesting to see how things shake out with the new recruiting rules. We better be a leader in this department because Nebraska athletics can not afford for us not to be.

Who would that be? I think I see a few who might be seen as reaches (Kevin Maurice, Drake Martinez, Boaz Joseph) but there's enough people who I trust that like all three that it's hard for me to classify them as reaches. Maybe projects.
