Watching him against teams over .500 this year, pretty sure that's a complete ripoff. His arm is crap.

He threw for over 4,000 yards AGAIN, i wouldn't say his arm is crap. My thinking is, if Joe Flacco can win a Super Bowl, maybe, with the right formula, you don't need the top paid QB's to win it all, and you can spend that money on upping the D and running game.

Joe Flacco was terrific in the postseason. Maybe one of the best postseasons ever by a QB.

  • Everything seemed to go his way but ill give him this...

He NEVER EVER put his team in a bad situation. AND he took advantage when the other teams F'd up.

    Sometimes that's enough.

He's no world beater and I'd draft several qbs before Flacco BUT he earned everything he's getting.

Maybe crap was too strong of a statement, but I'll be anxious to see him play a first place schedule this year, put it that way. His arm isn't even close to what it was, that was painfully obvious.

I don't think it's too strong. His arm is nothing like it used to be. But he's so smart with his reads and check downs they just basically have him run a west coast style offense with a bunch of short throws. He still has the accuracy and timing. Just no more zip or deep balls

I agree it wasn't as strong this last season. Maybe another season of training helps with that, but his accuracy is still great. We will see what he can do this season

This was basically my point. He isn't a top flight Qb but they found a way to win a .SB with him/his skills. So you don't always need to spend the money on a top QB.

  • This bashing on Manning and Flacco is ridiculous.

If not for busted coverage on one of the most head shaking plays in NFL history it's very possible Manning and the Broncos go on to win the Super Bowl and the Ravens were yesterday's news. They were on an 11 game winning streak and by all means should have beaten the Ravens. If that happens we're probably not talking about whether or not Manning has the arm strength to go all the way and we shouldn't now anyway. The gap is that small.

Instead, Flacco has what I would call the 3rd best postseason in NFL history (behind only Montana in 1990 and Aikman in '93.) You could easily make a case it was the best. The dude played lights out in close games. They don't win the Super Bowl this year with less than perfect quarterback play in the postseason and that's exactly what he delivered.

Sorry, just can't get myself to draft a OT with the #1 pick.

And, if you haven't watched the Chiefs, and judging by attendance you haven't, there are middle school QB's that would improve our play.

In "real life" I'd trade this pick in a heartbeat, it's a sh*tty pick this year.

I don't blame you at all. KC is desperate for a QB and bc noone will want to trade up this will probably be what really happens. Just a bad year for top 3-4 picks

Definitely not a bad year to pick No. 1. Just not ideal if you're in need of a QB.

Personally like Barkley over Smith but splitting hairs. Glad my team won't have either. biggrin

  • I'm on the Barkley bandwagon as well, but I still would not take any of these guys in the top 20 based on value alone.

At least with the new rookie salary structure taking a quarterback first overall does not represent the commitment it use to.
