Ay Husker fans (Callahan voice). I just joined yesterday so you may be seeing a lot of me around here. I'd like to introduce myself first before I start randomly commenting on every thread. I had an exclusive interview with myself this mourning and would like to share it all with you....
Q: Talk to me about your first memory as a Husker fan. I'm sure everyone is extremely interested....
A: I'd be happy to. Well for starters, I'm 28 (being born in 1984 may be the worst time for a husker fan but i'll get to that later) and a born and raised in Omaha. My first Husker game was the 1989 homecoming game against Iowa St. We were ranked 4th in the country and were 7-0 rolling through the Big 8 at the time. I don't remember any details of the game except we blew them out and then went on to lose to Colorado the next week. What I do remember is being terrified of the stairs walking up to section 109. What emotions I had then completely changed when my Dad and I walked through the tunnel and I got my first look inside the grey old lady. I'm sure many of you have that same memory of seeing the bright green astroturf, that old school N on the 50, and 'Huskers" painted in white in the end zone for the first time. I've never been the same.
Q: What was your first heartbreak?
A: January 1st, 1994. I was in the 4th grade and we had just moved into our new house. This game was the first time I cried after a loss but I was still yet to truly understand real Husker heartbreak. I've never seen my Dad more angry.
Q: You say you were too young to completely grasp Huskerdom at that time. So when did you?
A: My freshman year in college at UNL. 2002. I mentioned earlier that I could make an argument that my age might be the worst to be a Husker fan. Let me explain that as I answer your question. During the glory years of the mid 90's I was just getting old enough to really follow Nebraska football. We were so good that I became very spoiled at a young age and wins were always just assumed more than celebrated every week. My senior year of high school we played in the National Title game. I loved the team, went to 5-6 home games a year and was becoming more and more of a die hard but I still had not quite got there yet. I don't need to explain to anyone what happened from 2002-2006 while i was a student at UNL. 39Ws, 27Ls during my 4.5 years. Then followed the year of which we shall not speak of. The pain and suffering during the Callahan era changed everything for me. Now I want to win more than anything. I now can understand how many of you felt from '72 - '93. But I still am waiting to know how you felt on January 1st, 1995. It was one of the greatest moments for me but I had not suffered enough to truly appreciate it. When the clock hits 0:00 in the National Title game and Nebraska is victorious once again..... (loss of words)
Q: Why do you think you are worthy to be posting in The Bone Yard?
A: I've been a long time lurker on husker message board sites. I've kept all my opinions to myself until now. I may not be worthy and I may get run by many of the vets around here but I'm going to do my best to contribute.
Q: What are your thought on the upcoming 2012 season?
A: I wont go into detail because I have 65 days to discuss with others on this board. I will say this... I believe in Martinez. He's no where near a Gill, Frazier or Crouch but I think his ceiling is high and he has not come close to reaching his full potential. He can get the job done and win us many games. If we have a few people step up big on D, specifically Compton and Steinkuler, I think we can have a top 3 defense in the Big 10. I'm not worried about the coaching. I think Bo and co. have the talent, its more a matter of can they recruit the players necessary to get to our ultimate goal. No more questions.
Sorry all for rambling. I thought I'd have some fun with my first post and try and build a reputation around here. Please feel free to tear me to shreds.

it up.

We don't see but few posters, let alone first-timer's, that are as cleverly verbose, with a good flair for wit and self-deprecation, as well as a penchant for contribution.
