I posted an article about painkiller injections in college football with the topic header of "NU and OU set standards for painkiller injections".
If you READ the article, you'd see that NU and OU are, in fact, setting the standards on limiting this dangerous practice. I felt pride about this and wanted to share it. Possibly someone read the posting topic, saw the article description, didn't read the actual piece and down voted me because they thought I was saying something bad about NU. Regardless of the explanation, it's just funny.
For what it's worth, from now on I will state in the thread every time I down vote someone. I will tell the poster why I did it. I will own it. Pardon the soapbox thread.

I'll say this; I would guess that 90% of it comes from 10% or less of the board. It's just how certain people function. The old "drag them down to my level" frame of mind.
I've said this a few times and I'll say it again. Down votes should be eliminated entirely and we should only have up votes. Use them for the best posts you see and create a real meritocracy here.
Take away the vehicle for the cowardly "down voter without an argument" and they will have no choice but to contribute something meaningful to the board or hit the highway.
That's my rant on that subject.
