  • No road W from here on if the turnovers, penalties & sloppy D can't get fixed. Which have been the case in both road games so far.

No road LOSSES from here on if OUR OPPONENTS turnovers, penalties, lame offenses and sloppy D can't get fixed.

    This is fun.

  • I'm more concerned how Bo and his boys react to the OSU loss. It's nice we had a bye week now it's time to see if Bo can adjust to the problems we have especially on D. In my opinion Bo needs to do some serious soul searching to figure out why our huskers are having these problems. Maybe he has reached the point where changes are needed, like brining in another highly qualified coach; maybe he needs to reorganize his coaching staff at the end of this season. Bob Devaney and TO both reached these same points in their careers where something had to be done so maybe this is Bo's time.

I'm not trying to be an arm chair coach and I support Bo but it does seem like something has to happend.

    Have @NW, MSU, and Iowa.

Last two years away from memorial stadium vs BCS teams they are 2-5.

Been out scored 250-173 (41 points from RUTS on Minnesota). Minus the Minny game it's 236-132.

The other win was over a Penn State team right after Joe Pa was fired. And only won 17-14.

Martinez on the road during that time 88/165, 1112 yards, 4 tds, 8ints

4 of those 5 losses were to top 15 teams. We should have been more competitive, but 4 of those teams were pretty good.

I don't know if any of the 3 teams we have to play on the road are top 25 material.

I think we'll 2 get two wins out of that batch. We generally save our meltdowns for decent opponents.

Okay, let's try this--if our guys keep out of their own way I think the Huskers can win all 3 road games.

    Is that better?

What has everyone seen that has them so convinced we will beat Iowa? I don't get it. Imo, its a tossup. At best.

when was the last time we lost to a pro style QB? Landry Jones in CCG, and we had to gift wrap that one. there's my convincing

P.S. I have a terrible memory so I could be wrong

No, you're on the money. But even dual-threat QBs can be handled by the Husker D if the guys have their heads on straight. Improve the safety play and keep the offense from tripping over its own feet and the prospects are bright.

Unfortunately, we're halfway through the season and it's pretty hard to change the trends that have been shown. As much as I dislike the Bill Parcells association (because of the family affiliation with the current KC Chiefs dismal GM), BP's line of "You are who you are" has a fair amount of truth to it.

  • I'll convince you. Our offense (Michigan St) is the worse its been in my lifetime. We needed everything in the bag to beat Eastern Michigan and Indiana. We have an incompetent offensive coordinator, whom you became acquainted with last year in Lincoln when he kept throwing deep into Tampa 2 coverage while the middle was wide open and completely ignored.

The OL is in shambles, injury-riddled, and full of guys who couldn't get get upfield push against Eastern Michigan. Leveon Bell is a great back, but he gets no holes to run through and has no breakaway speed. Our receivers get no separation, and when they do, have dropped more passes than any unit in the nation. Our QB has no touch, regularly overthrows people and has no mobility in the pocket,

Our kicker has regressed significantly from last year, missing from 38-43 on the regular. Our punter shanks at least one a game. Out kickoff coverage may be the worst in the Big Ten.

For all the accolades our defense gets, and it's a very good unit top to bottom, we get no penetration in the backfield whatsoever. 2 sacks on the whole damn year. Our CB's have also regressed and are regularly being burned deep (having opposing QB;s with all day to throw certainly helps the matter). Also, as they're on the field all day, as TD's are as rare for us as Pick-6's, they wear down late in games and can't come up with critical 4th Q stops.

You guys will roll on November 3rd. We'll be coming off 3 straight losses, beat up, and dejected after pissing away our best chance at a Rose Bowl in a generation. Spartan fans will be bringing the boo-birds strong and the stadium will be at least 30% red.

    Feel better now?

good points... but Nebraska doesn't run a Tampa 2... match-up two-deep zone is what we use. Same coverage scheme as many NFL teams. College quarterbacks can confuse it for Tampa 2.

    Thats for dropping in.

Trust me, there are many people in the BYC that could give you a laundry list of how the Huskers will self destruct and crumble as the season goes on.

Someone has to win each game right/?

True enough, but I still think you guys have a better team than you realize. The game in Columbus snowballed and wasn't nearly indicative of the talent differential on the field. Where we're getting killed this year is in the trenches, and that's a matchup made in heaven for you.

We only have one left (technically). Granted we should win at Iowa. But I'll stand by my statement that it is far from a gimme. Sure they look wounded and just plain bad. But don't underestimate just how much they hate us. Hate can go a long way in a single football game. Think of how many times we should've destroyed Colorado but ended up in a dogfight instead.
I'm by no means saying we will lose. Just that its going to be a tougher game than most people are giving it credit for.
