Who would a hc (or anyone) put a higher probability on being on their staff the following year: 1) A full time well paid assistant; 2) An unpaid GA whom there is no spot for or commitment to keeping?
It's good to be the King.
Look - there was a HIGH probability that Marrow would be on the staff for the full 3 years. . No offense to Coach Marrow but he doesn't have a great resume for getting a FT assistant position. If a childhood friend and thus someone very familiar with his abilities didn't get a HC job chances were low someone else was going to discover him in his GA position and come calling. By contrast John Papuchis was reportedly pursued by a number of schools in the last few years most notably Florida and Will Muschamp. By the other posters logic Papuchis should be taken off the recruiting circuit because his chances of being offered and taking a job elsewhere were - relatively - high.
This is simply foolish - Bo made extremely good use of his personnel by freeing up Coach Marrow to exercise his strong recruiting skills for nearly 2 years. It is very hard to fathom how the Big Red 'faithful' can turn this into a blot on Bo's judgment. .
I agree once again, spot on, dont have much to add to what you have been saying, its common sense in my opinion.
Yep, I agree with him too. In fact, I'm moving this new guy, Mercy1, up into my Top 10. With a bullet.
It's not that he's presenting inside info and a set of irrefutable facts, it's that he brings logic and common sense to the information we all have. There is always more than one way to look at a set of quotes or story lines or even rumors and I prefer the simpler, more reasonable explanations. More common sense explanations.
Mercy, regardless of my opinion on your stance, I just want to say you level of civility is impressive and refreshing on a Husker message board. Well done and keep up the good work. You're setting a great example for the BYC kids. Much better than I do!
Thank You - very kind of you to take the trouble to post that. I appreciate it.
I think this thread convinced me that the quality of debate is much better here than TOS. I may have to buy a membership.
Welcome aboard, Pro. Good group of respectful posters here. Feel free to post more often!
Good to see you post this, Ph. You are correct in your observation. We don't all agree by any means, but we respect each other to present [their] opinions. In addition, the HI/247 crew are top-notch in every way, great guys that will bend over backwards to present us with a great product and timely content. Hope to see more of your contributions to TBY. UV for you!
...It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.
