Comparing my comments and yours, I think it's fair to say you and I see the value of Marrow to the staff differently. That's perfectly fine. Marrow's value is a little bit more than just Sandland's recruitment. And when it comes to 'utilizing' his skills, I don't believe I mentioned the last two years. However, given the respect between Stoops and Pelini -- It's a fair assumption that Stoops' contact with Marrow wasn't a surprise to Bo. With that being the case, I can't see the logic in keeping him hard on the recruiting trail.
Again -- We see it different. I'm okay with that.
well, we already sacrificed 3 post season games so it will be a little surprising if there is another bowl ban...tht would put us at penn state level which probably wont happen
my prediction...loss of 24 schollies for 3 years...and probation
Thank You for your response. But Stoops was hired by Kentucky at the end of November. Marrow's involvement with Sandland's recruitment preceded that by months. I believe a number of other coaches on the NU staff were also more then a little involved in recruiting Beau - at least that is what I gathered from his previous interviews. I'm not of the belief that Marrow should have been pulled from the recruiting trail immediately pending the likelihood that he would be hired elsewhere.
My opinion on Vince Marrow is that he is a very good recruiter and likely a fine coach. I will readily admit I don't know what, if any, options Bo is considering in regard to his staff. I do know that many posters, under different circumstances, would be howling if Bo hired another Youngstown guy with 1 year of D1 coaching experience at the University of Toledo.
TY again for your thoughtful and civil response.
I thought before the departure of marrow he was a lean to you guys but that last article on your site regarding that situation left me as he has drop a little interest in Nebraska. I feel Miami leads now a little ahead of Nebraska
ALL ABOUT THE U
It's funny how everybody considers honesty a virtue, yet no one wants to hear the truth.
It's not that I believe he should've been pulled on the chance he may be looked at. Rather, my issue lies in the possibility that Bo may have kept him on recruiting after Stoops touched base with Pelini. I have zero first hand knowledge of the situation, but the realistic timeline makes this a very real possibility.
Follow my thought process: Stoops calls Pelini, asking about Marrow. From there, Bo has a few options to consider. Among them would be whether efforts need to be made to keep him on as a full time coach, where there should be some discussion about working something out to keep Marrow at Nebraska, or essentially letting him go. Once the offer was extended to Marrow, formally or not, I think it would be wise to keep Marrow from recruiting further. Just my opinion.
On the Youngstown hire angle -- I completely get that. I remember the golf comments on Fisher, and Marrow would have undoubtedly taken some elbowing online.
Barney Cotton had elbow surgery? Hopefully that was something that couldn't wait until after signing day. Wow...
It's good to be the King.
"Old" surgery. I want to say this is 6-8+ months ago. Injured it, needed surgery.
So Barn isn't off the recruiting trail now bc of it? I know he's completely ineffective however I can't figure out why he isn't out recruiting.
Neb_Mercy, we can't affoard to many of those coaches at Nebraska bc we don't have a hot bed of talent close by. We need everyone recruiting their tale off.
Should a GA be required to do so much recruiting work in order for Nebraska to sign a decent class? I don't think so.

Agreed....but I still think things have a good shot at working out with Sandland
