Imagine how difficult life will be for opponents visiting soon-to-be 90,000-seat Memorial Stadium? One writer believes it will be even a more hostile environment.
Nebraskas Memorial Stadium has always been tough on foes, but with it increasing in size, it will be even harder on the opposition.
I still think Memorial Stadium has a crappy set up for the student section
Goal in life is to make the Huskers Illustrated Hall Of Fame
Haven't been to Memorial Stadium in a few years, but the student section needs to get better. Hopefully the expansion makes it harder on our opponents.
You mean yourself?
Nebraska is not a hostile environment. Honestly. It's not. It's not that loud because of the design. And the student section is an absolute joke. TO really pissed me off there. I wrote quite a letter when he sold out and moved the student on the south side
Teein' Off on Links
When memorial stadium is up, it is very disruptive. That being said its hard to get the crowd going. The new seats should help because i think they will bring in a slightly younger croud.
THIS. It will get rowdy if/when the new AD moves the students back down by the field, where they belong. Not one of TO's shining moments.
as important as the big money boosters are to the program I am sick of them going to games. They are the ones that complain when I want to stand and scream my ass off. If you want to sit and quietly watch a game there is a couch and tv somewhere begging for you. If you come to a game you need to get up and be loud. Until this changes we don't have a very hostile environment.
Also the students need to get their crap together and show up to the games. In the south endzone from about row 85 and up it is almost always sparsely filled at best.
My first time in the stadium was awe inspiring. I brought my kids and my sister a couple of years later and she swore she was blind by the time we left the stadium...we played WKU so everything was red. She made us stop on the way back to the motel in front of a building that had a purple awning so she could get her eyes adjusted.
it can be intimidating but if the crowd is out it can work against us.
Thats a funny story. Welcome to the board man!
I could be wrong, but I think the open seats at the top of the student section are a bit deceiving, as I believe they usually pack it in pretty tight as low as they can.
I was going to say the same thing. Even the Texas game in Lincoln had this. And that game was as packed as it gets.
When the hate is flowing....Memorial is pretty crazy. Thinking 09 OU, 10 Mizzou, 12 Wisconsin. Those were pretty crazy atmospheres.
What's strange is that often times when the hate should be flowing, it's not....10 Texas, 12 Michigan
The hate was strong early against Texas but we kicked our own asses that day with those drops.
09 Oklahoma and was electric the entire night. And USC '07 was the loudest I've heard Memorial or the tunnel walk. That ended quickly.
Forgot about USC....it was loud all the way through that kick return when the USC player was down for 20 minutes
Maybe I am imaging things, but the stadium sure seemed louder before the Callahan era.
I always back Memorial Stadium as the best atmosphere in college sports (I think most of us do) but I've never thought of it as disruptive.
A boy, a Twitter page, and the aspiration that you follow him. It's what this country was founded upon.
Yes, well said Stoobie!
