Where is the defense that will prevent us from doing just that?
I think the problem is that our offense has a habbit of stopping itself... if we don't do that we shoud be just fine. Michigan, Michigan State and Northwestern (believe it or not) all have capable defenses to keep us in the 30s, but only Northwestern has the offense that scares me.
High thirties - no problem. Anyone who keeps us in the low thirties will win. That's my guess.
Defences don't have to me amazing to stop us... we studder on offense on our own. Taylor with his fumbles is one big reason.
"In the deed, the glory"
This is very true and I'm sure the opposition appreciates the help.
T.O.P. will be important of the defense isn't what Bo hopes it will be.
Tim Beck will be one of the most important men this year. His play calling will go a long way in determining our Ws

Teein' Off on Links
Taylor has improved every year so why wouldn't he this year. Not to mention the offense as a whole will be the best it's been it ten years
T.O.P. can be very overrated. It's only important if our offense struggles to score.
If Taylor makes as much improvement this off-season as last, there aint a coach around that wants to face him. Defense? Yea i got nothing. Hope to the heaven that Bo n co. go back to coaching them up like we all know he can.
You've got two predictions, Josh. 11-3 and 13-1. I like the 13-1 a lot. This seems to be the year for it.
Putting you're comments together, are you saying Taylor will cost us two games moving us back to 11-3? God, I hope not. If so, that will probably be all he'll be remembered for. You may be right but it would be a shame if his long career boiled down to that.
Middle of the road for me. Thinking 12-2 with the one loss coming from the usual suspects and one more from the CCG or bowl game. Do not see us losing two in a row (NW and Michigan).
Taylor did improve his passing, and knowledge of the offense... but he was still the most prolific fumbler in the NCAA (3 years running). That's what I am worried about along with a OL that is going to struggle mightily against good speed rush off the end.
The larger splits are also going to allow LB/S blitzes in gaps up the middle.
It won't just be Taylor that directly causes the losses unless he is throwing Pick 6's and fumbles inside our own 20-30.
Its going to be a combination of OL play and TO margin.
If Nebraska can tie or win TO's were in good shape.... if we play like we have the last 3 years being one of the worst in that category in the NCAA... gonna be a struggle.
splits don't mean much in blitz pick up, communication does. You are right about the tackles though, feet are too slow. We have decent tackles but not great tackles. Luckily as far as I can tell (unless someone burst onto the scene, as they most certainly will) there's not many experienced speed rushers on our schedule right now.
Our tackles are flat out average at best and have a horrible time blocking. A smaller standup LB or anyone with any kind of speed is going to get around them. If our starting tackles are Sirles and Qvale this year, its going to be a long season for the backfield and Taylor. That said we are going to have to use TE's like crazy to help seal, hopefully Beck uses PA a lot

true... and from what I've heard that's definitely the plan (with the TEs and PA I mean)
How much do you see Finnin helping us?
A lot of people I put a ton of credit on and trust believe he is the make or break of the OL.
If he is as advertised or even more so we should be OK.
Agreed with both. I really hope there is more of a PA element in the offense, it will serve Taylor well. I don't like Qvale and to a lesser degree Sirles with speed rushers. The standup LB will be in full effect against ucla.
I was excited happy when we got him and I have pretty high hopes for him. Hopefully he is as good as advertised.
He'll be good... but it's a lot to ask a kid to come in and take control of the LT spot right away. I don't think he starts most of the season.
