Not sure what the kid did but he just parted ways with Iowa. Depending on what he did, as long as he keeps his nose clean with us, I hope we look at him. . Maybe a DE.
BTW, just remember every kid doesn't grow up in Beaver Cleaver's neighborhood with role models and resources. And at the end of the day, we are trying to win games and mold young adults. Maybe both could be accomplished with this dude?
Here's his profile... interesting that his only other confirmed offers are from South Dakota State and Iowa State. Something doesn't smell right here. Would be interesting to know why... perhaps there's more to his troubles than people let on. Here's a story about what happened. I like our DEs in this class, I hope we don't go after him.
Thanks for the post jay. I hit you with an upvote to try and get you some stars.
To get kicked off a high school team you have to do something pretty serious. I have a feeling more went on then that story says.
He committed early in the summer so many might have backed off?
Im glad Coach Osborne didn't back off of LP when others did. You get the best athletes possible and work with them if need be, IMO.
Again, I don;t know how legit of a football player he is but I hope he is judged on that. Sure he messed up with Iowa, he's a teenager. Hope we look at look at giving him a 2nd chance.

Maybe, but more times than not, no.
I like the DEs we have now... if we didn't have any I would want us to take a look and perhaps give the kid a chance. But now now.
Welcome aboard. Nebraska already looked at Trevon and never gave him an offer. Bo doesn't intentionally bring aboard young men that don't fit the culture he's worked so hard to create and maintain. Like klein points out he doesn't have much in the way of offers from major programs.
It (Nebraska's interest, or lack thereof, in Trevon) has nothing to do with Leave it to Beaver type neighborhoods, as Nebraska has traditionally offered and received commitments from young men that have come from less than ideal environments. For the record, L.P. came from an orphanage, and had a very good adult legal guardian. She was on record that L.P. didn't bring any of the type of baggage that Trevon has accumulated. He was tremendously insecure, but didn't have a record.
+1 Up Vote for your post.
...It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Welcome Jay, Up vote for you.
I'm guessing he'll be 'judged' on how he projects as a football player, a teamate and a student. In other words as a total person. I don't know anything about this young man and I'm sure not going to judge him.from behind my keyboard. I guess I'm going to trust the staff's evaluation too. Seems like the fair thing to do. Best of luck to Trevon.
He got arrested twice for breaking into abandoned houses to party with friends, once in July, once in November or December. After the 2nd incident the Hawkeyes pulled his offer.
For the record he does have the potential to be a very good DE with his speed, quickness, size, and athleticism but from making the same mistake twice and some of his comments from twitter, he doesn't seem to be the smartest kid or to have totally learned his lesson. For his sake I hope he does as it looks like he's taking the Iowa coaches advice and looking at JUCO's to play at and hopefully keep out of trouble.
Sine Missione -- Never be a spectator for unfairness or stupidity, argue for arguments sake; the grave will give plenty of time for silence.
thanks for the info derHawkeye, hope the kid gets it turned around. I hate it when teens seem to embrace the downward spiral.
If that girl in your sig pic would move the football in front of her face instead, that picture would be awesome.
I've known some kids who did that. They didn't know their friends moms lease was up. They partied pretty hard hehe.
Teein' Off on Links
Iowa did a good job of recruiting him, but there's just too many disciplinary issues swirling around the program to bring this kid aboard. Ferentz stuck his neck out for Garmon, who bailed.
I say let him go. If we were in the business of offering kids who got kicked off their high school teams and had a history of discipline issues, we would offer Minter Jr.
Maybe after he goes the Juco route and proves he can contribute to a productive environment.

IOWA - Idiots Out Walking Around
No problem, and I agree because I really think he needs to get out of Des Moines. For those of you not familiar with Des Moines, Trevon lives in kind of the lower class area of the city and appears to be involved with the wrong crowd. It's not only the best thing for his football career at this point, but also his life to get out of there and not let it drag him down further.
Thanks ders. Drop in anytime.
