The NCAA makes every conference play by the same rules. The 85 scholarship rule was meant for more parity, and it has. Until the SEC found a way around the rules. Back in the day, Nebraska would have over 120 players every year (most on scholarship). We would sign players just so other teams couldn't. Don't get me wrong i think the 85 rule is good, i like the parity. But either we need to implement the SEC strategy in the BIG, or we will fall further behind. My question to you is, is it time for the NCAA to even the playing field again. Or are you happy with the status quo?
Playing field should be even. I actually think if a player works hard on the field and in the classroom but the coaches made a mistake they should have a 4 yr scholarship. I know I am in the minority on this. However,it should be uniform across all schools. The SEC running off players needs to brought under control.
I've been an advocate for this for years. I'll never understand why the NCAA can control HOW every single team recruits but cannot control over-signing. Each conference has its own rules concerning over-signing and that's not right. The NCAA should make the rules uniform across all conferences.
You and I are definitely on the same exact page on this.
No doubt. You would think that just maybe the NCAA would want to protect the student athlete.

I agree with you on this point for sure. But i would say that if we guarantee scholarships then the only way they could be yanked, is for poor grades or bad behavior off the field.
I agree completely. If the NCAA really was worried about the student athlete this is what should be in place.
yep... in reality, they are worried about money. Whether people like it or not NCAA is a Big Business now and more corrupt than ever.
I know but so many young people are being taken advantage of that I think at least those are putting forth the effort should have every opportunity to get a college degree.
I agree completely. It is awful what the NCAA has turned into.
I like your take on thing things, Mike. Keep posting.
Wonder what the breaking point will be for all this to stop.
I wonder the same thing. Maybe student athletes should strike.
they have no leverage... that's the issue.
Don't see that happening, but I just have a gut feeling one day something will break that changes the landscape of things.
I know. I don't either. I to hope something breaks to change things to level the playing field and better protect the athlete-students.

Climate change swaps the climates of the Midwest and Southeast?
less to do with climates and more to do with population
