Good news everyone. I finally found beer that was recommended on this thread... I have Hoptimum and Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout...
Reviews coming soon...
Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
- so my first experience with an Oatmeal stout... what i had pictured in my head is nowhere near what it actually was... i pictured a pumpkin ale type of thing where you could clearly taste the oatmeal type taste... but you can not... it basically tasted like a light stout... not as dark and not as strong coffee/caramel taste... so IMO it was delicious... its like the good things in a stout with the dark coffee flavor except without the heavy slap in the face at the end... very very good.
I do love regular stouts. but this is better...
honest to god i decided to taste it before looking at the IBUs on it... I guessed 95... its 100... holy crap its hoppy... love it. imagine taking a sledgehammer to the face but change that sledgehammer to delicious hop taste... its not too piney either... ive noticed that with some IPAs brewerys try to hard to get that "pine" taste involved... so some IPAs end up tasting like you took a bite out of a literal pine tree... but this pine taste is subtle and it takes a back seat to the clear Hops taste... absolutely delicious... if you do not like regular or double IPAs though i would not recommend this... at all...
Thx for this! Gonna get some tomorrow. Last Saturday, maybe bear, recommended it and now you. Can't wait to get off work in the morning.
this is exactly what this thread is about. love this thread!
Yup, this is one of the wonderful stouts that allows you to drink a couple more. One of the reasons I love the oatmeal stouts.
...It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.
W. C. Fields
Could use a couple pops right now. Too late to start, though.
Your team. All the time.
