Two old faithfuls in the middle. Two new on the outsides. I'm especially excited about the Pond Hopper which is a collaboration between thornbridge and Odell breweries

Pretty sure there are no hops in Johnny Walker Blue Label, but it still tasty and completely appropriate give the day I've had!!
Go Big Red!!!!
o my. whiskey and bourbon talk is absolutely welcome here... i love my whiskey. good to see you here again!
so about this Pond Hopper....
its a bit too citrusy for me. as ive said before i like my hops taste. when they try to lighten it with citrus or floral flavors not the biggest fan. but this beer is strange. you can clearly seperate the citrus and hops taste. it has a great hops taste.
I wanted to say all the good before the bad. The one thing i dont like about it. the initial taste is not good. the first few seconds its in your mouth is hard to explain. ive never said this before but one of my favorite things about beer is the taste changes throughout. IMO alcohols do not do that. when you take a shot of a whiskey it may have a split second initial or final taste that is slightly different but thats about it. beer can almost seem to evolve while drinking. in this case the initial taste is just not good. cant really decide why. but the rest is great. i'll give it a 4
I am a whiskey lover as well but will wait til I make more money to delve into fine scotch. Craft beer has so much to offer right now, and is rapidly growing. Very excited about the future. I read somewhere that there are over 350 craft brewery license pending this year. People are finally realizing there is more to beer than BMC (bud, miller, coors) and I am excited for people to learn why I have learned over the last few years.
I've detected through months of iBRs posting what he likes.
Hops come in many flavors. Certain hops being certain flavors. Most hops on the west coast bring that citrus and tropical fruit flavor. Thankfully hops can come from almost any part of the world and being all kinds of flavor to beer. Others hopsstrictly bring that "hoppy"'old school bitterness And leave out the citrus notes.
I believe what iBR is favoring is a certain malt ( barley\wheat/ect) hop combination. He is more old school and prefers a less fruity beer. The fruity hops flavors have only come around recently.
I am pumped to make a trade, cuz I think I am going to give him a few beers he really enjoys.
Never had that Ty. Pretty good?
This is one of the brews that got me into craft beer. It's not craft ( coors ) but it started to get me away from keystone so I am thankful.
I think my first craft beer was that fort collins chocolate stout you had. Formerly HC Berger. They also had a bombay ipa. It was either one of those. I had a fake Id BBC in Laramie and there was a bar across the street from the dorms that filled your growler. That was such a convenience.
Can't believe its a 79 on BA. quality brew. Stacks up well with plenty of other highly rated ones I've had. One of the first beers that taught me not to listen to everything Beer Advocates say. Everyone has their own taste.
