Just thought I would quote the OP. So any newcomers won't have to go all the way back.

So basically my night has consisted of hanging with the niece and nephew drinking these. 5 chugs a piece. Good stuff.
Hop Stoopid is good stuff.

holy poop. 102 is a very high I.B.U. rating...
For any newcomers or just for educational purposes for anyone who doesn't know what IBU is... it stands for Iternational Bitterness Unit. The higher the IBU the more hops per unit of volume and the more bitter the beer will taste. Double IPAs tend to have the highest IBU ratings for Beer.
also. to add to my previous post. I am not sure where they get the "102" rating... i was always under the impression that 100 was the max. or that 100 is the "taste threshold"
Lol, try clicking on the link below and seeing the IBU's on some of my brothers beer (he's the head brewer), namely the Hopsmack and the Twisted Galaxy.

It's not taste threshold that's for sure. That was a damn good beer.
its a basic estimate with a standard deviation probably +/- 5-10... so 102 is close enough that with some people... (people like us that drink dominantly bitter beers; IPA) may have a higher threshold. but as for the beer i clicked on that Der has provided us ( i only checked one of the beers listed on that web url )... the IBU was 175... I did some research and I was right that the estimated threshold for human taste is ~100... BUT IBU as i said before is not based on taste. it is what affects the taste but it is not based on taste. it is actually a numerical value determined from an equation. So although it is technically possible to have an IBU rating as high as 175... the difference in taste from a value of 105 compared to a value of 175 is probably minimal...
I can totally agree with this. I bought a 12 pack of modus tonight for the guy that lets me deer hunt at his place, delivered it, cracked one with him and he spit it out and said never again. Can't fix stupid.
That's possible, I've never actually tried the Hopsmack or the Twisted Galaxy to measure them with some of the other stuff I've had. It's a pretty good microbrew though and I'm not just saying that because my bro works there, it's only been around for a few years and is already the #1 brewery in Iowa.
Got a link?
ya i already searched for its availability near Omaha. seems to be only in Eastern Iowa so far with the closest location in Des Moines... Hopefully it continues to grow and creeps its way into Omaha (beertopia) or at the very least makes its way to Counciltucky.
They are currently expanding and have a new brewery with a larger capacity and a bottling line set to be ready by next summer/fall. I'm not sure as to what kind of availability they will have with the bottles though because the demand is high enough in eastern Iowa and Wisconsin that they're usually pretty busy filling the orders here. I would say western Iowa is probably somewhere in the same boat as Illinois is right now, meaning in the planning stages. It will likely depend on whether or not they think western Iowa/Omaha area is worth sending it that far away right now based off of interest from the public and interest in some of the main craft beer establishments in the area wanting to test it at their place. Does Omaha have any big beer festivals like the Great Taste of the Midwest that Madison has? That was a big reason why the beer is already in Wisconsin so if they go out to a festival there, it may happen sooner or later.
You hawks upvoted this thread yet? Otherwise GTFO.
Ever had a "non premium beer" tail gate? Fill the cooler FULL of different off brand cheap beer. Open cooler close your eyes and hope for the best. Fun! Old Milwaukee was one of the best Boxer light... not so much. Consisted of PBR, Jenny... missed that one, Blue Diamond, Strohs, mickey big mouths, and others I don't remember. Called it the cooler of no turning back / Cooler of death. Even talked someone into being a beer noodler!
Yes I almost sharted the next day.

I can honestly say I have never done that. I can also say I have not even heard of some of those such as... Jenny, Blue Diamond, Strohs...
You better hope you don't either. Was fun but I have a craving for BPR and Old Milwaukee now.

Odell has a great Pilsner. I believe i mentioned it earlier in this thread. be sure to page through this thread whenever you get some spare time. a lot of good beers are mentioned throughout.
I scanned through most of the thread. I will be trying some of them. Not as much of a pilsner guy, but I will try it. I like the Oskar Blues selection, clearly. It's strange that they only come in cans, but their slogan is "pack it in, pack it out." I need to visit their tap room to pickup a growler of Gubna.
Same with ska brewing and crow peak. Majority or all of them come in a can.
Ska brings it hard!
